Chapter 15 by Zeebop Zeebop

What does Sue Storm do for Dr. Stone?

Start With A Home-Cooked Meal

"You eat out too much," Sue Storm said. "And you can't burn calories at the gym with both legs broken. You need to eat healthy."

Invisible knives chopped vegetables. There was a spice rack in Karla's kitchen now, and actual food in the fridge. Lean meat. Veggies. Rice. Quinoa. Almond milk. V8. Bottles of various oils, sauces. Sue Storm stood within an invisible whirlwind of blades, and seated at her kitchen table, which had been lowered to accommodate her wheelchair, Moonstone had a newfound appreciation for the dangers that would accompany any head-to-head confrontation with the Invisible Woman.

Faster than Karla could have imagined it, dinner was served. It was a simple chicken curry, with baked vegetables on the side, glasses of milk and V8, some vitamins on the side.

It was a balanced meal. Delicious, even if Karla was unsure about the vegetables. She was used to salad—no one with her waistline wasn't—but there was spices she wasn't used to, and she missed the whiskey she had intended to wash her painkillers down with.

The villain noticed that Sue had made too much food. The rest of it went into new tupperware containers and into the fridge and freezer. Sue began talking about something called sous vide, and Karla pushed herself back from the table, absolutely stuffed. One hand fell to the food-baby. She hadn't had a homecooked meal in...

For a moment, Karla remembered her life back at home. Her mother had never cooked. Evil, controlling bitch. Her father hadn't stayed along long enough for Karla to know what his thoughts were on food, besides a taste for whiskey and bourbon. The one thing she'd gotten from him. Something she had come to terms with a long time ago, when she had left home and never looked back.

As she wheeled herself and her plate and glasses into the kitchen, Karla wondered if that lack of a true maternal figure was part of the reason she reacted to easily to the epitome of maternal warmth that was Sue Storm.

"Keep this up, and I'm not going to fit into my pants," Karla joked, as she handed Sue the plate. The chair was too low for the villain to actually wash dishes at the sink, not while seating. If Sue wasn't here, Moonstone would have to balance herself on her broken legs as she tried to wash the dishes.

"If you gain a little weight—which you could stand to do—we'll take you shopping for new clothes," Sue said simply. "Now, let's talk about what we're doing tomorrow..."

What are they doing tomorrow?
