Chapter 8

Should she run, or stand her ground?
Stand her ground
Liandra quickly took the book and searched up a melody. Rodrik made sure she remained safe while doing so, cutting away vine after vine.
Just when she found the perfect melody, she heard a scream. When she looked up, she saw Altima had been captured by one of the vines. It lifted her up and pulled her deeper into the forest.
“We have to help her!” Nariel yelled.
The elf didn’t wait for a response, he ran after his friend and disappeared after her.
“He’s right.” Liandra said to Rodrik. “We need to go after her.”
Together with Rodrik, she chased after Altima. After a bit, they appeared at a clearing. Liandra saw something she had only ever heard of once, a dryad. A tree with the shape of a woman, capable of sentient thought and movement.
No, she corrected herself. A corrupted dryad. Any actual dryad would not to the horrible things this dryad was doing to Altima.
The corrupted dryad had stripped the rangeress of her clothes and assaulted her sexually with her vines. There was one in every orifice. Mouth, ass, pussy … even around her breasts. And she was fucking Altima senseless.
Before Liandra had taken in what was happening, the corrupted dryad made a strange face. Then light green liquids were spraying from the ends of her vines. Liandra could only assume the same for the vines that were inside Altima.
Liandra needed to act quickly. She placed the book on the ground and readied her harp.
She played a melody called ‘the song of autumn’. The first change came when the leaved on the corrupted dryad and the trees around her turned to red. The next change was seen in the vines, which grew brown and woody. They slowed down in movement considerably. The corrupted dryad learned what was happening and focused her attacks on Liandra.
But liandra didn’t need to fear. Rodrik, the stalwart guardian, put himself between the princess and the vines. He blocked them with his shield or cut them with his sword.
When Liandra finished the melody, the corrupted dryad was made still. Her vines had stopped moving, her leaves had fallen off, even her human features were unmoving.
Nariel quickly freed Altima and brought her her clothes.
Liandra now also remembered Calcifer was still back where they were attacked.
Should she stay with Altima or go back to Calcifer?
