Splitting up for a preliminary sweep

"...And cut!" Aaron called, soon followed by a lowering of his camera. Jason followed suit with his own.

Mackenzie let out a small sigh of relief. She was more than used to being on camera by that point, but the incident with her bra had rattled her slightly. She wanted to refasten the undergarment, but it would have been hard to do so without taking her leather jacket off first. Instead, Mackenzie simply opted to wait until she had a moment to herself.

Zack walked over to the other two men, who were both pulling up the footage on their cameras for him, to make sure the footage looked okay. He typically did this for any of their daytime shots, wanting to make sure everything (and most importantly, his own image) looked up to his standards. Hopefully this wasn't one of his testy days, where he demanded reshoot after reshoot.

For just a moment, Mackenzie had a pang of worry that her minor wardrobe malfunction would visibly show on the footage, if only slightly. Neither Aaron or Jason had seemed like they'd noticed anything, but Zack typically had a very discerning eye. Nervously, the redhead walked up to join Zack in the footage review.

"Oh, curious to take a peek for a change?" he asked, seeing Mackenzie approach beside him.

"Maybe a little," she said, peering down at the small image of herself next to Zack.

"Well, well, well, be my guest," Zack offered, rewinding the footage and beginning it from the beginning.

As they rolled through the footage, Mackenzie couldn't help but keep her gaze locked on the curve of her chest. It wasn't like her jacket was super tight or anything, but with breasts as generous as Mackenzie's, the general shape of her bust could be seen in just about anything she wore. She was relieved to see that, as she had thought, there was no visible change when her bra came unhooked. She gave another small sigh of relief.

"Looks fine to me too," Zack said, before noticing the look of relief on his coworker's face. "Relax, you looked good out there, really. I wouldn't let the cameras roll that long if you didn't!"

"...Thanks, I think?" she said, a bit warily.

"Though, as always, most of the eyes will be on me, so don't worry your cute little head TOO much," he chuckled.

"Alright, that's enough out of you, Twitter Man," Mackenzie said, feeling back to her old self.

She addressed all three of them and said, "Let's get a move on guys! It's gonna be a long night and I want to start getting readings of the interior ASAP. This place is plenty big, so let's all split up and start sweeping for any entities. I'd like to start by canvassing as wide of an area as possible, and hopefully any potential hotspots will quickly become apparent. Then we can start tackling them together from there."

"Aaron," she said, pointing at him, "you stay close to base. If any of the remote monitoring equipment goes off I want you to be around to hear it. But poke around the foyer and entry hall if you can."

"Roger that," the big man replied.

"Zack, you take the east wing. And Jason, you take the west wing."

"Got it," Jason replied earnestly, cutting off Zack's half-formed witty comment.

"And I'll take..." Mackenzie said excitedly, "the basement. That looks like the creepiest zone by far, so if nothing pops for us, we can try focusing on that for most of the night."

With their locations divvied up, the four investigators entered the mansion.

About 20 minutes later, Mackenzie descended the stairs to the basement, her heavy duty flashlight illuminating her dark path. Before dispersing, the team had quickly filmed themselves locking the front door of the mansion, sealing them in for the night. It was purely for dramatic effect, of course. They had the key to the giant padlock they used, after all. But it helped amp up the suspense for the viewers.

Mackenzie's boots hit the cement floor and she turned on the bright floodlights she'd set up earlier. Finally alone, the redhead took off her leather jacket, setting it on a nearby equipment case. With the constrictive garment gone, she was quickly able to slide her hands underneath the back of her shirt and refasten her bra. She tugged it slightly, getting it back in perfect alignment around her boobs, then gave a small sigh of relief.

But, when the redhead reached down to pick her jacket back up, it wasn't there. Mackenzie couldn't help but gasp slightly. She'd put it down less than a minute ago! Where could it have possibly gone?! As her mind began running wild with ghostly possibilities, though, she saw that it had simply slipped off the case and fallen behind it. She actually chuckled aloud at herself at that revelation as she picked up and brushed off the slightly dusty jacket.

"Honestly, Mackenzie, where is your head tonight?" she mumbled to herself. "What, did you think a ghost made your jacket disappear?!" She chuckled again and pulled the leather jacket back on, zipping it up.

Next, Mackenzie turned on her small, handheld camera and spoke aloud to it briefly.

"Alright, this is Mackenzie, doing a preliminary sweep of the basement. Let's see what we can find."

With that, she pulled out her trusty electromagnetic field meter. It was the same one she'd been using ever since she started investigating the paranormal world years ago, and it had never steered her wrong. She switched it on, listening for any signs of a spiritual entity, and began slowly making her way around the basement.
