The worst part about this? I couldn’t exactly run into the bathroom to change with Mary Jane and a bunch of other women in there. So I quickly ran out the club exit and down a side alley where no one was. Very quickly I stripped down to my underwear, put on my super suit, put my other clothes in my purse and webbed it to the side of the building to hopefully keep it safe. From there I just had to climb to that woman’s window, easy peasy, right?
Well, not exactly! Even though the building on the inside kept shifting, the outside still remained the exact same. As far as I knew the office could be any one of these open windows, and I had to search every single one of them to find Quinn. The first few I peeked in were just more windows into the club, which weirdly looked a lot more foggy from this angle than it did inside, but the next window was a bit more… sad.
Poking my head up I saw the women’s restroom as it had started to slightly clear out. At first I was about to move on whenever I heard the bathroom stall door fly open, and a quick, whine of a voice echoed from inside of it.
“Petra? Petra are you still here?” It screamed, as MJ hobbled out of the bathroom stall, clothes fully back on but her hair still a bit of a mess. She looked around and asked a couple of the girls something I couldn’t hear, but whatever they said didn’t exactly make her happy. Her face dropped to a more depressed look, then a scowl, before she stomped her foot and left the bathroom in a huff.
“Great job Petra…” I whisper to myself as I continue to climb up the wall, peeking through more windows to try and find this stupid office. “The one woman you’ve been in love with for years finally gives you the chance and you treat her like a one night stand…” I growl, before poking my head in and seeing that same Beck woman running around the room, seemingly searching for something. “What a hero you are…” I finish my thought before opening up the window, without Quinn noticing.
“Where is it… where is it?” Beck grumbles to herself as she throws papers all over the room, pulling out desk drawers and paying no attention to her surroundings… which gave me just enough time to push open the window and step in quietly, watching the scene play out for a couple seconds before making myself known.
“Did you lose your W-2 too? Don’t you just hate tax season?” I say with a quick smirk as I lean up against the wall. As I do so Quinn finally looks up and gets an eyeful of me, her eyes looking me up and down as she scans every inch of me.
“What do you want with me, you Spider-Harlot?” She growls as she takes a step back, her eyes finally locking up to meet mine as I let out a quick chuckle.
“Spider-Harlot? That’s a new one. Where did you get that? Shakespeare in the-“ Quinn interrupts my thought by pulling a revolver out of her back pocket, which I quickly snatched out of her hand with a quick web, and flung it against the wall and holding it there with another. “Hey! I’ve had one too many shots at this club already tonight. I don’t need any more.” I say quickly, before stepping further into the room and closer to her.
“Then let’s avoid the pleasantries and let me ask you again, what do you want?” She says again, this time the fear practically drained from her voice, and instead there was only annoyance and anger that laced her tongue. “I have done nothing wrong! Whatever you think I am attached to you are clearly mistaken!” She was obviously defensive, and if I wasn’t on a time crunch I’d have talked about that a little bit more, but I had something to do.
“I’m not here for you, I’m here because I heard you mention a name down stairs.” Quinn’s demeanor shifts again to one of confusion, her eyebrow raising, and her face overall becoming softer. “What can you tell me about Fisk?”
Once again I could see the shift and… damn this woman’s face is very expressive! The fear that overcame her was potent, but was quickly overshadowed by a mask of confidence and an obviously fake chuckle as she went back to her desk and searching through the papers she had thrown about everywhere.
“Fisk is the name of a… company that I make deals with.” She says softly, not even making eye contact anymore. “Nothing more, nothing less.”
“You seemed rather scared of a company out there.” I say coldly, hating the fact that I may have wasted my time with this. “I may have had a run in with one of Fisk’s other clients earlier today.” I say, which causes Quinn to peek her head back up at me with a quick glance, before looking back down at the papers. “And if you are anything like that one…” I send two webs out to connect with the side of her desk, and I yank it out from underneath her which almost makes her trip and fall on the ground, but it gets her attention. “Then maybe I need to keep my eye on you too. So either talk, or we’re gonna have a problem.”
My words only seemed to give Quinn a bit of satisfaction as a large smile grew over her face and she chuckled again. “Oh! Darling, you really are quite the performer.” She says as she steps around her desk and walks closer to me now, her hips swaying from side to side with every step. “But unfortunately… you are a public figure, people know you. And as long as I’m not, robbing a bank, threatening a life, or stealing candy from babies well…” she shrugs and pokes my chest, as if she were testing something, and then shrugs. “I guess I’m safe.”
She turns her back to me and starts to walk over to the desk, picking up the scraps of paper that had fallen onto the ground and not even turning to meet my eyes again. “If there is nothing else, I’d show you to the door, but I’m sure you’d prefer the window.” She says with a smirk. “Or… you can wait 2 more minutes and my personal security can escort you themselves.”
I growl a little bit at her arrogance, but I wasn’t exactly in the mood, or mind state, to put up much of a fight right now. “Don’t think this is the last time you see me.” I say as I start to walk to the window. I thought I heard her say something like Oh I don’t doubt it on the way out, but I was practically launched out of the window before I could fully hear her.
