Spider Fight!

Yulia forces herself to take her focus off the spider to see if there are any other spiders in the room and is relieved that there only seems to be the one large spider in front of her. She turns her attention back to it and it makes a chittering hissing noise, "I... I don't think it's intent on just letting me go, Mean Voice... I'm sorry, but I think I'm going to take my chances fighting it," she states, she draws out her rapier and holds the torch higher.

The spider seems to recoil slightly from the light of the torch, but it recovers quickly and lunges forward, raising it's front legs to strike at Yulia, Yulia takes a step back quickly and manages to fire an icicle from her hand holding the rapier, seemingly a little surprised that she can use the spell without an empty hand. The Icicle hits the spider in the eyes and it screeches and recoils again, but aside from damaging it's eyes, it doesn't seem to have any further effect and the spider leaps towards Yulia.

Yulia stabs the rapier into the underside of the spider as it leaps at her, but the spider's mass still crashes into her and she's knocked onto her back as the spider is on top of her. The spider seems to be injured by the stab and doesn't immediately react even while successfully pinning its prey and Yulia manages to draw back the rapier, pulling it out of the Spider's abdomen and makes another strike for it's head.

The rapier stabs into the spider's skull and the spider lets out a loud screech that rapidly drains into silence as it's legs twitch wildly all around Yulia and then it collapses against her, it's fangs tapping against her mask as they fall towards her face.

Yulia lies panting and terrified under the corpse of the giant spider. She quickly extricates herself from under it and can see that a viscous green blood has stained the front of her scapular. She stabs the spider again in the head to ensure it's dead and then quickly exits the room, taking a deep breath once she's back in the lit hallway. She realizes she'd dropped the torch in the room when the spider had tackled her, but it had almost burned down anyway. She stands in the hallway and slowly looks at her rapier. The blade is coated in the same viscous green blood and she shivers thinking about how close that had seemed.

She does however note that it seemed like she'd finally gotten the hang of the icicle skill. It seemed easier to cast now and drained her less.
