What's next?
Spent
She collapses onto the lounger like a puppet with its strings cut. Her arms flop out to her sides, palms open to the darkening sky, and her legs fall apart without the strength to close them. The cooling slick of her release spreads beneath her, sticky against the small of her back and the backs of her thighs. Every muscle in her body feels like it's been wrung out and hung to dry.
Her chest heaves in slow, ragged breaths. The evening air brushes across her bare skin, and she doesn't have the energy to shiver anymore. Her eyes are half-lidded, unfocused, staring up at the faint pinpricks of stars that have begun to emerge against the deepening indigo.
The pool filter hums. The water laps gently against the tile edge. A cricket chirps somewhere near the hedge line.
She lies there, completely spent, her fingers still loosely curled near her thighs, her body glistening with sweat and her own wetness. The white bikini remains a forgotten heap on the concrete a few feet away. She doesn't reach for it. She doesn't move at all except for the slow, shallow rise and fall of her ribs.
