Spending Saturday

We just got done with breakfast at the cafeteria and were sat down at a table, just talking and gossiping and joking around. “So, what ever happened to David like wasn’t he with you guys?” Ivan took a sip of his drink while Gabi answered, “He left to go hang out with his other friends, said they were gunna play basketball I think.” I tilted my head. “So what about you guys, what did you two do after the Principle caught me?”

Ivan raised his head. “We went pacing around the halls wondering if you’d get in trouble.” “Wow really?” “Yea, is that hard to believe?” Gabi asked. “Uh, well I mean I don’t wanna be a dick but like-” “Guess he’s about to act like a dick.” Ivan joked back. I shook my head as Gabi chuckled. “Well, I mean I appreciate you guys waiting it out for me.” “Of course, you’re our friend after all and well, you’re still green so somebody needs to hold your hand after all.” Gabi replied judging my arm with a smile. I looked away but cracked a smile.

“Oh look, we made him smile. Here come the tears!” I pushed Ivan off the table as he and Gabi started laughing. “You gotta learn when to close that big mouth of yours, Ivan.” “Oh, you gunna make me?” He grinned in response, that bastard. “You just wait, we sleep under the same roof after all.” “Ohhh Ivan’s in troublllllle.” Gabi teased.

We sat back down for another minute. “So uh, where’s Nick and Yesenia?” “Yesenia is out, once every other weekend she goes to see her parents so we won’t be seeing her till tomorrow noon.” Gabi replied. I shook my head. “And uh, Nick and Carl?”

Gabi stayed quiet and tugged at Ivan’s sleeve, making him look up from his phone. He sighed and got off the table. “He’s good, they’re both good. Right now Nick took Carl out to try and cheer him up.” “I see.” I lowered my eyes. “Think I should talk to him?” Gabi placed her arm around my neck and pulled me in. “We know you mean well Alex, just you’re gonna have to give him some space for now. He’s uh, he-he’ll come around. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to talk to him right Ive?”

“Right! Alright let’s get outta here, let’s go do something for today. You guys wanna go to the mall?” He clasped his hands together smiling as I looked up. “Mall?” “Shyea, there’s a mall about twenty minutes down the road, into the city ya know. The Town Center?” I raised my eyebrow. “Have you not been here before like at all, citywise?” I shook my head. “Wow, well it’s settled, we’re going! Come on.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me off the table, leading me down the hall with Gabi laughing and following. “Wait, we don’t have a ride.” “I’m the ride!” He smirked, oh boy.
