Of all the impliments spatula seems like it will hurt the least. It is light and bendy. It might sting a bit but otherwise you should be fine.

'Since you are giving me a choice I would like to try spatula.'

Your assesment of spatla seemed to be corect. It does stings quite a bit, but there is no deeper or lasting pain.
