Chapter 12

What's next for the Legends?
Sorting out Zari's problem
Zari crouched down nervously, still trying vainly to cover up with her arms. She crouched down on the ground, a little over a ridge, eyes darting around at the sound of voices carrying over from the far side.
Her embarrassment wasn't particularly helped by Erin sat just opposite her, smiling happily.
"D-do we have to do this?" Zari said. Erin nodded a bit too eagerly.
"You heard Gideon," Erin said. "That tribe mistook you for some kind of wind goddess and started celebrating you, making cave paintings, all that fun stuff. And as good as the art was, apparently it's hurting the timeline, so go fix it."
"Why do I need to be..."
"You're always going to be naked," Erin said. She shrugged. "But if they think you're a goddess, then play into that. They'll recognise you like this. Hand out commands. Tell them to stop the cave paintings, ideally get them to stop worshipping the wind or whatever, problem solved. Thought you wanted to make sure the Bureau didn't stumble onto those bits of cave art?"
Zari whimpered. Ok, that was true, but she also didn't particularly want to expose herself again. Though judging by Erin's insistence that she was going to be hanging around, Zari was beginning to get the feeling she was going to have to get used to it.
"Couldn't we just use the memory erasers?" Zari said.
"Definitely not," Erin said.
Erin nudged her; Zari yelped, then froze, paranoid she'd been overheard.
"Well get to it!" Erin whispered to her. "Save the timeline. That's what you do, isn't it?"
"Not like this!" Zari whispered back loudly.
Erin nudged her side again, and Zari yelped loudly, stumbling a little.
A figure came to the top of the hill. Zari looked up, faltering, keeping her arms crossed over her chest and hoping that staying crouched helped a little more of her modesty. She blinked, struggling to focus on anything more than the fact that someone was looking at her naked. Again.
"Uh... hi?" Zari tried, voice coming out high.
The figure stared. Erin nudged her.
Taking a deep breath, Zari stood up, shaking a little. She nervously shifted her arms, one slipping down to cover the join of her legs. Oh god, he was staring; she whimpered.
"Could you, uh, not draw me?" Zari said. Please.
"Not very good at seeming divine," Erin said. "Some confidence!"
Zari glanced down at her incredulously. This was nothing like anything she'd expected to happen when it came to saving the timeline...
Damn it, how had she gotten to the point where time was contingent on her...
She shifted, dropping her arms to her sides, hands still shaking a little. She took a deep, uncertain breath, trying to ignore Erin grinning from the ground, and the feel of the air fizzing against her skin.
A litle wind... she pushed her totem, pushing the figure back a few steps, hopefully making him look away.
"I do not want to be worshipped!" Zari said, in her best imposing voice.
The effect was rather ruined by her squeaking when a handful more of the locals drew closer, attracted by the sound. Her cheeks burned.
"Don't draw me!" she said. "Don't even think of me. Really, just, don't think of me at all!"
They still stared. Zari took an uncertain step back.
"I-I think we're done," she said, squeaking a little, awkwardly bringing her arms up again.
"You're sure?" Erin said. "Double checking won't be the worst thing in the world, will it? Best to be sure."
Zari whimpered.
Nora Darhk sat by the wall of the Waverider, bright red and hugging her knees to her chest, staring at a spot on the floor ahead of her. Sara wandered into the room, faltering a little when she realised she had company. She started moving her arms to cover herself, then exhaled.
Sara had probably adjusted to nudity a little better than most of her new team, though that wasn't saying much. She seemed more intent on focusing on the positives than dwelling on her embarrassment, though there was no disguising her blush or her attempts to not spend much time in rooms with anyone except Ava.
"Come to lock me up?" Nora said, still blushing.
"Not really worth it," Sara said. "Waverider's locked up tight. No one's getting off while we're landed here, Erin's rules. If you did end up escaping I'd help. Ideally if we're somewhere where we can steal some clothes."
"Like that'll matter now," Nora said. She shifted; Sara hesitated.
"I meant to ask about that," Sara said. "That spell. Is it..."
Nora whimpered. Sara bit her lip.
"That bad?" Sara said.
"Permanent," Nora said. "And a big deal to even start trying to undo. Let alone trying to get the resources if we're...."
Nora hugged her legs closer. Sara looked down at the witch for a few seconds, before coughing and dragging her eyes away. She moved over to the wall, standing a little out of Nora's line of sight.
"And there's no way around it?" Sara said.
"No," Nora said. She squeaked, then hesitated, flustered at the sound she'd made. "This wasn't meant to happen! I don't know why I'd even make a- let alone... not to myself!"
"Erin's like that," Sara said. "So there's... no way to undo it? I'm really stuck like this?"
"We all are," Nora said, voice high.
"A-all, yeah," Sara said. She coughed. "Yep. Totally concerned about that too."
