Sophia and Stuart go in for their first day at work

It is a sunny day in the city of Chichoya, home to some of the biggest business firms in the country. Along the clean roads walks two young people, a man and a woman making small talk as they anticipate their first day on the job.

“Can you believe I didn’t even need an interview? I guess my resume was just that good!” Sophia exclaims in joy to her friend Stuart.

“I didn’t get an interview either! All I did was send my resume and walk into the building, and this big guy came up at me from behind and said, “You got the job!” In a deep voice,” Stuart says, seemingly equally as happy as Sophia.

“*Pfft* You gotta be fucking with me Stu, no way that happened!” Sophia replies. Stuart feels offended that her friend of 10 years doesn’t believe her. They’ve known each other since early high school, and now that they are both 25 and out of college they’ve been living together in an apartment for about a year.

They were both unsatisfied with their minimum wage jobs and their degrees in business and analytics were collecting dust on their cabinet. So when Stuart found a business firm with two job openings available, they were stoked and immediately sent in their applications and resumes.

Flash forward a couple of weeks, and they both get the job on the same day. While many would question such easy application, Sophia and Stuart are **** for higher paying jobs, especially when rent and groceries are starting to get more and more expensive.

“Whatever… All that matters is that we got the job,” Stuart says, trying to disguise his offended tone.

“Amen Brother!” Sophia replies in a cheerful manner. She bumps her fist into the hair and spins around to face Stuart, who blushed slightly at Sophia’s massive amount of optimism. Stuart takes in every little detail about Sophia; Her short blonde hair in the style of a blunt bob, her stern but beautiful face and smile, her strawberry gold stud earrings, her smooth skin, her toned physique, her well tailored dress shirt and pencil skirt, everything about her screams independent and sexy. In truth, he’s always had a crush on her, but he didn’t want to ruin the relationship with an awkward rejection.

Sophia on the other hand considers Stuart pretty good looking. He has short brown hair in a sleek hairstyle, a generally muscular build, and a very modest looking business suit. While she wouldn’t say he’s her type, she definitely wouldn’t be opposed to it. The one hang up she does not know if he even likes her. Since high school she’s always been a bit tomboyish, which made being friends very easy, but Sophia suspects Stuart would want a more “girly” girlfriend. Besides, she didn’t want to ruin their more playful and casual relationship with each other that they've built up for their entire adult lives up to this point.

Nevertheless, the two finally make it to their destination; A tall office building in the heart of the city. They both look up to see the 10 stories the building has. If it weren’t for the cars passing them by behind them, they could take in all the beauty of the architecture with its steel frames and blue tinted windows. Never in a thousand years would they ever have thought they’d work at such a glorious looking place.

Stuart walks up to the door and opens the door wide. He steps back with the door and gestures his hand toward the entrance.

“Ladies first!” Stuart says with mock politeness. He bows in front of a giggling Sophia.

“Then why aren’t you going first, Stu?” Sophia replies with a smirk on her face. Stuart just laughs and rolls his eyes as he enters the building alongside Sophia. Starting today, they will begin their corporate journey to the top!

Upon entering inside the building, Stuart and Sophia immediately see the receptionist manning a giant oval like desk with a pretty high tech computer in front of her as she clanks away at her keyboard without a care in the world. As Stuart and Sophia walk closer toward her, the receptionist immediately takes note of their presence. “Oh! Are you two the new hires?” The receptionist asks as she rolls up closer to the two.

“Yes we are! Where should we start for today?” Stuart asks confidently.

“Well, before you two can begin, our boss actually needs to see you and give you your company uniform,” She says with an odd emphasis on uniform.

“They have uniforms for corporate jobs these days? I thought it was just suits and business casual?” Sophia questions.

“Well, it’s not like we have a uniform, it’s just what you two are wearing is not exactly what we were looking for when you applied for the job. But, our boss had expected that and has prepared you a company standard outfit for the position,” She explains. Stuart noticed that she eyed up and down as she explained everything, which he finds very odd. He looks over at Sophia who looks somewhat upset as she crosses her arms over her chest.

“W-Where can we find the boss?” Stuart asks.

“He’s on the top floor! The elevator is to your right and the stair cases are to your left,” The receptionist says, pointing both directions.

Thanks, we’ll just take the elevator,” Stuart says before beginning to walk away with Sophia.

“I hope you two have an amazing day!” She says. Stuart could swear he saw a bit of drool flowing out of her mouth. “Weird girl…” He thinks to himself as he waits for the elevator to open.

It doesn’t take long for the elevator to open, revealing a gold covered interior that reflects their own reflection back at them.

“Damn, this place must be Uber expensive!” Sophia exclaims as she walks inside. Stuart follows as he stands next to her inside the extravagant elevator. He looks down at the buttons and sees the tenth floor. With a simple press of a button, the doors close and the elevator starts moving.

“Man… I thought I looked pretty today…” Sophia says in a low whisper to herself. But it wasn’t low enough for Stuart to not hear.

“I’m sure you’ll still look pretty in whatever the boss has in mind,” Stuart says aloud.

“W-What did you say?” Sophia asks in a slightly embarrassed tone. A hint of pink envelopes her smooth cheeks.

“W-W-Well, I…” Stuart says as he trials off his own sentence, seemingly embarrassed he admitted she looked pretty. But before he could even think about finishing his thought, the elevator doors open to reveal a massive office room with rows of cubicles and desks.

Up ahead is the boss’s office, at least that’s what it seems like by the door with a gold plate. If there was any room leading to the boss’s room, it would be that.

So, the two walk down the walkway as they pass by several desks and cubicles. The sounds of keyboards clanking and phones ringing are more than welcome to Stuart and Sophia who have been dying for an easy corporate job for years.

But they also notice that almost every employee looks at either Sophia or Stuart with a bit of excitement in their eyes. It’s like they’re anticipating something to happen to them, and that something is going to really shake up their office job experience.

“Yo Stu? I keep seeing some of the guys eyeing me up!” Sophia whispers to Stuart in slight confusion and concern.

“Yeah, a lot of the women here are doing the same to me,” Stuart replies. As they walk, the stares gat more blatant and oddly sexual as they lick their lips and focus other their chest’s and crotch’s.

“Dude, I don’t like how they’re staring at us. Why are they acting this way?” Sophia asks Stuart.

“I’m sure this is just some kind of first-day ritual thing. Maybe they’re just super stoked to see new hires?” Stuart tries to give a logical answer, but even he can’t rationalize their borderline inappropriate behavior.

Thankfully, the lustful stares come to an end when they finally arrive at the boss’s room. Stuart opens the door to let Sophia in first and then he follows quickly afterwards, closing the door as he does so.

Now inside, Stuart and Sophia take in the detail of the room. It has off white walls and a blue rug on top of a hard wood floor. Around the room are several shelves holding pictures of people and trophies covered in silver and gold. Whoever the boss is, he seems very successful and popular.

“Why hello there! Mighty fine seeing you two finally arrive!” The boss says as he sits as his desk, reclined and leaning back in his seat as his feet are placed on top of his grey desk. He has a subtly southern accent and he looks exactly like a chubby red neck if he was **** into a business suit.

“Ahhh… Yes! Glad we could met with you sir! My name is Stuart and her’s is-”

“Why were your employees staring at us like slabs of meat when we got here?” Sophia asks in a slightly aggressive tone, cutting off Stuart.

The boss chuckles somewhat to himself. “They’re just excited you know. It’s not every day we get new hires at our company, let alone those with such impressive… credentials,” He says with a sly tone to his voice.

Sophia looks pissed and Stuart looks worried not only for her, but for their jobs as well. No matter how creepy their co-workers might be, sacrificing their jobs over it would be a completely blunder of a move.

“Anyways, it’s time I hand you your company issued uniforms, but I must ask…”
