Where was she?

Somewhere near home

Chapter 6 by WilltheBoatmaster WilltheBoatmaster

It wasn't time to sit down and wait for a solution to come for her; Emily needed to see what her surroundings were. She could be attacked any time by some animal. Emily looked upwards and felt her ears twitch, listening for any malignant entities coming for her.

Her eyes scanned the landscape for any signs of trouble. Emily watched as animals darted from dark underbushes for their nocturnal activities. She blinked in surprise at the fact. She looked down towards her own skin and saw her obsidian skin clear as day. She eased her concentration and watched as her skin faded into the night's background.

"I have night vision!" She proclaimed. This was an amazing revelation, well technically no, since she knew dark elves possessed night vision due to their underground lifestyle. But to her, this was a great find; she could see in the dark if she could concentrate enough. It wasn't even that green-filtered night vision; it was as if day and night were one and the same.

"That's so cool," Emily exclaimed as she tested her new vision. She could see owls on trees and moths fly throughout her surroundings. Now that she thought about it, Emily's memory jogged as she internalized the landscape. This place was familiar to her. It was at that moment Emil realized she was in Porter's forest. A local landmark for the town she lived in. Relief flooded her body; she was still home. That, however, brought its own problems as she remembered that she was still a dark elf, a non-human fictitious being.

"Dangit, what should I do?" Emily asked herself. "Should I just go home, but what if my neighbors see me? I can just crash at one of my friends' houses, but would they know who I am? Would they freak out if they saw me?"

Emily was conflicted over what to do.
