Something out of nightmare

You feel the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, despite your almost certain belief that this is an elaborate hoax. The slithering continues, and a black robed and hooded figure slowly appears in one of the dark archways of the room below. It stops, as though waiting for something, with no sign of hands or face.

One of the red robed figures raises her arms again, beginning a sonorous chant that is either gibberish or some language you've never heard. The chant is taken up by the white robed sisters, who gather in an arc around the altar and Chanel's bound and splayed body.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn," they intone, their hoods turned towards the menacing black robed figure who remains motionless in the archway.

Their chanting increases in volume, speeding slightly, and the black robed figure suddenly moves forward, the robe giving no sign of legs walking beneath it.

But behind it..... Behind it trails a green and black mottled obscenity like the tail of an immense snake.

And suddenly you remember the final response to the call and answer chant that preceded this arrival.

Lacerta Rex. The only words of that chant that were in Latin.
