Something isn't right...

You wake up feeling miserable. Your head is pounding, your mouth is dry, and everything is fuzzy. With considerable effort, you rise to a sitting position, sending your body into a full-scale revolt. You double over, vomiting onto the ground. Thankfully, it appears there was very little in your stomach to begin with. You groan loudly before sinking back onto the bed.

You must have caused quite a commotion, as the sounds of your companions scrambling and arguing outside of the tent fill your ears. You wish they would be quiet while your headache subsides. Suddenly, through the fog of your mind, a realization hits you: this isn't your tent. As a matter of fact, this isn't a tent at all. You're lying in the remnants of the Odyssey's medical bay. And if the soreness in your body is any indication, you've been here for more than just a single night. You don't have long to ponder the answer before Hannah enters the room, breathless, along with Jacqueline, who slams the door shut and bars it.

"How are you feeling?" Hannah asks, softly.

"Like shit. What happened? Am I in the med bay?"

"You got an infection. What's the last thing you remember?"

"Will and I got back from the fight with the Nightmare and you stitched me up. Then I went to bed. How long have I been out?"

"A week. Will woke us in the middle of the night when you started convulsing. You had spiked a fever of nearly 106 degrees. We had to put you in med bay and ice you down to keep you from boiling. The antibiotics helped stabilize you, but you were comatose for several days. We weren't sure you'd ever wake up."

"Fuck. How - how much did you use on me? What do we have left?"

"All of it."

"That's what's left, or..."

"That's what we used. The meds are gone."

The realization hits you like a truck. All the meds are gone. If anyone gets sick now it will be life threatening.

"Why are you barring the door?"

Jacqueline answers this time. "We didn't know what condition you'd be in, or if it was safe to risk too many people entering. We don't think you're contagious, because if you were Hannah would have surely gotten it, but it's still not smart to risk it."

"Alex and Alyssa were practically ready to break down the door," Hannah tells you. "You may not realize this, but you were a big part of the glue holding the group together. Alyssa and Alex have been...well they've been worse. Without you to back her, Alyssa has had trouble maintaining any sort of control."

"What about Will?" you ask. "Hasn't he backed her up?"

"Once you went down," Jacqueline starts, "he blamed both Alex and Alyssa for backing your decision not to use the ****. Vanessa has been supporting Alex, and Mike has been in Alyssa's corner. The two of us and Will have tried to stay out of it and focus on getting you healthy."

"Jesus. Well I'm better now. Let me go out there and settle this down." You try to stand, but once again double over in agony.

"Not so fast," Hannah admonishes, "we still don't know what you had. And although Alyssa and Alex both separately declared me chief medical officer - not that I'm sure, mind you, which, if either, of them has the actual authority to do that - the fact remains that I'm not actually a doctor. I don't know how to operate this equipment or perform any meaningful tests on you. I've been reading all the medical texts I could find on the ship, but the only thing I can really say for certain is that it's best if we keep you quarantined for another 2 weeks."

"What's the point in that? If I was contagious wouldn't you and Jacqui already be exposed?"

Hannah looks at you with more determination and ferocity than you've ever seen from the mild-mannered Asian.

"Because I said so. You all ignored me the first time around and you nearly died. If we'd have treated you early on, maybe we could have saved some meds and prevented this whole mess. From now on, you listen to me when I tell you something."

"Alright. You're right."
