Oh no, you forgot to let in Mister Snugglepoo, your precious puppy! How could you forget? You're a bad, bad mommy. You nimbly skip back out of bed, past the Danger Zone (the four feet closest to the bed which you have determined by trial and error to be the maximum reach of the monsters - don't ask how you figured it out, it was a long time ago and you can't remember), and easily reach the door.

You don't even bother to turn the lights back on because you will be back in bed well within the safe period of three heartbeats. All you have to do is open the door and let Mister Snugglywuggly in and then he can keep you safe all night long.
