Something Finally Goes Well

You, Kent and Jenessa are lead into the keep by Jodstr and Aera. As you enter the main hall you all see King Tarim sitting in a simple thrown flanked by half a dozen guards. "Captain Jodstr, what have you brought me?" Tarim asked firmly,

Jodstr knelt down as did Aera who lowered their heads in respect, "My liege, we bring forward three soldiers of Reness who bartered passage to our city from their lands." Jodstr replied,

Tarim raised his brow and looked between the three of you, "Interesting, we don't usually meet groups of soldiers. We usually only find the stragglers, Alto is quite...proficient with their enemies."

"Indeed they are sir." Kent said with a nod, "They put a twenty gold bounty on any Reness head."

"Really." Tarim said with surprise, "That's surely one way to give your troops incentive." He said with a small chuckle before stopping, "Apologizes, that may seem insensitive." He said calming himself, "So please tell me your names and what your training is. Starting with you." Tarim said pointing to you,

You looked to your companions for a moment before taking a step forward, "My name is John, I was trained as a Myrmidon. I have training in single sword combat as well as martial arts."

"Hmm, that's impressive. We don't have many men here who have been trained in the same way." Tarim noted, "You," He said pointing to Kent, "Who are you?"

Kent took a step forward and nodded his head respectfully, "Names Kent, I was trained to be a cavalier. I became proficient in sword and shield combat and I learned how to handle a horse quite well. Unfortunately I was in the last stage of my training when Reness fell, I don't fully know how to handle a lance on horseback as of now."

Tarim looked at him a bit unimpressed, "Ah, well perhaps we can find use for you." Tarim looked at Jenessa and let out a little smile, "And you miss, what were you trained in?"

"I was...trained as an archer. I mastered the art of the long bow over the last few years." She said weakly,

You quickly pipped up, "Jenessa was one of the best guards we had on the wall. She did her duty well everyday start to finish." You said quickly,

"Are you only trained in archer miss?" Tarim asked,

Jenessa looked to you, "I am...able to defend myself quite well with...a small blade." She said as convincingly as possible,

"Interesting." Tarim said with a nod. Things went quiet as Tarim seemed to think things over and each of you held your breath waiting to hear what he would say. "I think...we could find a spot for you couldn't we Jodstr?"

"Of course sir." Jodstr said with a nod, "What did you have in mind?"

"Well bring this man Kent to Roggaar, he should whip him into shape and we'll have another trained cavalier for our forces. As for Jenessa lets have her meet with Runna, we could always use another trained archer on the wall." Jodstr let out a short yet firm nod,

"And John Sir?" Jodstr asked,

"Jodstr why don't you keep him, I feel another city guard with his abilities could be needed." Tarim replied,

"Of course sir." Jodstr said quickly,

"But that can wait until tomorrow!" Tarim said with a smile as he got up. He reached over to the side of his throne and took a handful of gold coins and put them into a bag, "I'm sure you're all tired and hungry. Take these, enjoy a night on the town but tomorrow I expect you all to get to work." Tarim said as he tossed you the bag of coins.

You looked at him confused before slowly backing away as Jodstr and Aera lead you out of the throne room, "Keep yourselves out of trouble now." Jodstr said as you got to the bottom of the steps from the keep before walking away,

"I'm here if you guys have any questions." Aera said with a warm smile before walking back to the small guard building,

"Well that went...well. I think." Kent said rubbing the back of his neck,

"Yeah I think it did." You replied as you separated the gold, "Here you two go on, grab some food." You said handing them their share.

"Don't have to tell me twice." Kent said with a grin as he walked away,

"What are you gonna do John?" Jenessa asked curiously,
