Chapter 582 by BreaktheBar BreaktheBar

What's next?

Some simple dinner conversation

“So what are your intentions with my sister?”

You had to smile at that one. “Fair question,” you said.

Sabrina had made a reservation at a decent steakhouse that you, her and Gemma had been to before. She andEmma were still a little more dressed up than the place called for, but not so much that they stood out strangely - though you did notice both of them get looks as the hostess brought you to your table. You’d pulled out a chair for Sabrina first, and she’d sat with a grin for you.Emma hadn’t given you the chance, yanking out her own chair and sitting down quickly next to her sister. You ended up across the table from the two of them.

“I don’t think it’s fair,” Sabrina said, giving you a little smirk and then turning it onEmma. “Who says he has any intentions? Why can’t I be the one with intentions?”

Sabrina,” you chuckled.

“Fine then,”Emma shrugged. “What’s your intentions with this guy I’ve never heard of before this afternoon when he started moving into your place?”

“Marriage,” Sabrina said bluntly. Then shot you a soft smile. “Eventually. If we can figure out a way that me, him and Gemma agree on that makes sense. I doubt we’ll be able to legally do it, but still, the ceremony is what matters. But eventually, that’s where I see us getting.”

“Je-sus,”Emma said, looking between you and Sabrina. “You’re being for real.”

“We’ll wait until after law school,” Sabrina said, reaching across the table and taking your hand. “Not that the timing will really matter, I think. Once we’ve got Gemma back and living with us we’ll probably be like an old married triple already.”

“I don’t think there are any old married triples yet,” you chuckled, smiling back at Sabrina. Then you sighed softly and looked atEmma. “To answer your first question, my intention is to love your older sister as long and as hard as she wants.”

Longer. Harder,Sabrina moaned as if she were having an orgasm, then broke into a giggle.

“Oh my God,”Emma sighed, shielding her face from the next table over, mortified.

Sabrina and I have known each other-ish for three years,” you explained. “We’ve been in the same program and classes, we just never really struck up a conversation. When we ended up interning at the same office we became friends, along with Gemma, and that developed into… more.”

“Way more,” Sabrina grinned.

“If this was anyone else I’d think it’s so cute it’s disgusting,”Emma said. “But this doesn’t sound like you at all, Sabrina.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sabrina asked.

“I mean you were always the… calm one, I guess,”Emma said. “Katherine was the wild one. You know she got her nipples pierced?”

“We know,” Sabrina chuckled, glancing at you playfully. “She had them when she came to visit. They were a little hard to miss at times. I thought about getting mine done but the recovery time could be up to a year and I wasn’t about to risk going that long with having my-”

“She decided not to,” you cut in, giving her a look with a raised eyebrow.

Emma just shook her head, still a little incredulous at her sister’s antics, before the three of you paid a little more attention to your menus.

Once you’d ordered, you got a bit more ofEmma’s story and traded some of your own 20 Questions style.Emma had been a cheerleader up until her senior year when a late (for a girl) growth spurt had messed with her tumbling, and she admitted she had fallen out of love with it the previous year anyway. She talked about her senior year and all the landmark events, and Sabrina asked her about different people they knew - high school teachers, friends of friends, neighbours. You got the feeling thatEmma was dancing around some things though, and you wondered if it had to do with her social media ‘adventures’ that had gotten Katherine to send her to Sabrina in the first place. When was her birthday, and when had she started posting things? She might have been doing it while she was still in school; was the problem because of that, or was she doing it because of a problem?

Was it even fair to worry about that? You didn’t question Sabrina’s choice to post sexual content of herself online, but then she’d made that decision several years older thanEmma and had taken measures to protect herself.

The conversation continued over dinner, and you got the feeling thatEmma was relaxing a little more as you and Sabrina were able to work to make her not feel like something was going to come crashing in. She knew that she’d been sent to Sabrina by Katherine, as far as you were aware, so she had to be dreading what was coming. The strange thing was that, even while you were eating, she kept this strange, stoic expression on her face like she didn’t want to smile, or enjoy herself, even if she was.

When you were finished eating, you got a text and checked it with a smile.

“I know that look,” Sabrina said. “Gemma?”

“She’s wondering if you want to do a quick call,” you said. “She’d love to meet you quickly,Emma.”

“I… guess I can meet my sister’s girlfriend,”Emma said. “Jesus, that’s something I never thought I’d say.”

“Oh, Katherine is the wild child but not that wild?” Sabrina asked with a smirk.

“I mean, neither of you ever exactly gave a hint of gay tendencies,”Emma said.

“That’s fair I guess,” Sabrina shrugged.

You managed to connect to the restaurant's Wifi - something you weren’t sure you were actually supposed to be able to do - and opened a video call with Gemma, turning down the volume on your phone about halfway. She picked up quickly, a bright sky behind her. “Hey, love,” she said with a beaming grin that had her squinting a little. “Are they there?”

“Good morning, love,” you said, unable to control your smile as you adjusted the volume a little lower so you weren’t bugging nearby tables. “They are, I’ll pass you off. Love you.”

“Love you too, handsome,” she said.

You passed the phone over to Sabrina, who introducedEmma.

“Gosh, you’re pretty,Emma!” Gemma said. “It’s so good to meet you - I wish you’d come during the summer so I could have given you a big hug and we could have some girl time so you could spill some embarrassing Sabrina stories. Katherine didn’t tell us nearly enough.”

That got some good-natured denials from Sabrina, and you just grinned, your heart beating hard in your chest. Just hearing Gemma’s voice was like a balm for your soul.
