Some explanations

You spend the afternoon working on the prototype, while the girls fill you in on what’s going on. Supposedly, this ‘golden magus’ is meant to be some kind of chosen one. According to dwarven prophecy, he’s supposed to be the one to defeat the demon lord. You mention that you don’t see much fear of the demon lord in the city, and Hayley grins. “Well, it’s in a mountain, with only a few entrances. And we dwarves are famously good in defending.”

Marin nods. “Only a crazy person would try to **** this place. But it would be nice if everyone could be as safe as us.”

You smile. “I know how it is. You should hear Naia’s and Aisha’s story. So, this golden magus is coming?”

Sanni shrugs. “Supposedly, yes. We don’t have access to the prophecies, but I know it’s supposed to be soon.”

Helja nods. “That’s why the Forgefather is having us create this. He wants secret weapons for when the time comes.”

You look at the partially assembled weapon. “And last time you built this, it exploded?”

Hayley laughs. “Yes, we made it too powerful. The crystal overheated and shattered.”

Sanni huffs, crossing her arms. “It won’t happen again. I got a little overeager.”

Marin laughs, patting the lamia’s shoulder. “We don’t blame you, you know that. It’s not as fun without a few explosions!”

Sanni sighs, and the others laugh. Sanni smiles. “Fair enough. But this time we’re starting at a lower power, until we know the crystal can handle it. They’re a pain to make!”

You look at her, surprised. “You make them yourself?”

Sanni shakes her head. “Just the final enchanting. Hayley forges the crystal into a rough shape, then Helja designs it.”

Marin speaks up. “Hey, I do the heavy lifting!”

You laugh. “Ok, so you’re all involved. Well, I look forward to seeing it in action!”

Helja nods. “With less explosions.”
