Which Pokemon Did You Choose?

Snivy

I decided on Snivy, as while it was a basic starter Pokemon, I thought that it looked cute, wearing a loose green hoodie with a vibrant yellow hood. The hoodie's sleeves tapered into a leaf pattern. While it mostly looked like a normal person, it had a 3 foot thick tail coming out at the bottom of her back, her legs were covered in a dark green pair of leggings. The only thing that was odd to me was contrary to her welcoming, casual outfit, she had an unpleasant expression on her face, falling somewhere between smugness and disgust. Regardless, I asked Prof. Juniper for Snivy, and once again, a Pokeball appeared on the table. I pressed the button and was shocked to see that Snivy was even smaller than Gible, only 3'6 in height, barely reaching my waist.

"Hey there!" I greeted, "My name is Mark, I'm going to be your new trainer!"

"Yeah, whatever. Let's go train." The Snivy said, clearly avoiding prolonging the conversation. I knew at some point I had to get her to open up if I was going to be her trainer.

On the way out I asked, "Hey, I'm not the best at this whole naming thing, is there anything you would like to be called?"

"Just call me Sophia, pleased to meet you or whatever." Sophia responded.

"Sophia, that's a nice name, did you come up with it?" I asked, and in response Sophia immediately averted her gaze, and I thought I saw a little bit of a blush.

"Well, I had so many brothers and sisters, I never really got a name, so yeah." Sophia murmured, toying with her hoodies fabric.

"Um. Thank you. For the compliment." She said under her breath, and it was clear It would be a pretty long time till this shyness would go away.

We then headed out on the route to the next town. While walking through the grass, Sophia got pounced by a wild Zigzagoon, who was wearing a brown and white striped turtlenecked sweater. Sophia immediately knocked the Pokemon out of the way with her tail with relative ease, due to it being only 2 feet in stature. After being knocked to the ground, the Zigzagoon quickly jumped back to its feet and honed it's claws, three on each hand about 3 inches in length, coming out of her knuckles.

"Sophia, are you okay?!"I worriedly asked.

"Yeah, don't worry about it, I'm stronger than you think." Sophie responded, as two vines crept out of the bottom of her hoodie. She then lashed at the racoon Pokemon, and in one hit, it had fallen ****.

"Wow Sophia, that was awesome!" I gawked, picking her up in a hug.

"Let go of me." Sophia demanded, flaring her vine whips.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't know." I apologized, setting her back on the ground, not noticing she had grown another inch, now standing at 3'7.

We continued onward to the next town, fighting Pidgeys, Rattatas, and other common Pokemon on the way.

I knew I was doing something wrong, as I knew usually trainers usually told their Pokemon what moves to use in battle, yet every battle we had done thus far, Sophia did her own thing, I didn't even know what moves she knew!

"Um, Sophia, I'm new to all this stuff, but aren't I supposed to tell you what moves to use in battle? Could you please tell me what you can do?"

"What, do you not trust me to choose by myself? I'll tell you my moves when I need to." Sophia angrily retorted.

Not wanting to aggravate her more, I ended the thought there, and we walked into Heirburg town, a small old town with a Gym, Pokemon Center, Shop, and a local diner.

"How are you doing? You need to stop by the Pokemon Center?" I asked Sophia, hoping that she was no longer offended by my previous question.

"I'm doing fine, thanks for the concern I guess."

"I've heard that the diner in this town was pretty good, lets stop and get a bite to eat before we get back on the road, that is if you don't mind" I recommended, cautious of Sophia's reaction.

"Okay, I'd like that..." Sophia responded, the words after 'Okay' being barely audible.

"What was that? Sorry I didn't hear that second part."

"Nothing, don't worry about it."

Me and Sophia walked into the diner, instantly smelling an aroma of bacon and coffee. A young waitress walked up to the two of us.

"Table for two?" She asked.

"Yeah, thank you."

She then led me and Sophia over to a table with two bar stools around them. I was worried it would be hard for Sophia to get up on the stool.

"Hey, you want me to lift you up?" I offered.

"For the last time, I don't need your help dude." She grumbled, a look of annoyance on her face. She then extended her vines and used them to lift herself onto the chair.

I sat down, and said "Sophia, I need you to understand something, you don't need to prove yourself to me, I legit only met you today and im already amazed by all you can do, so please don't take offense, I have only the best intention."

As soon as I said this, Sophia got flustered and averted her gaze, until she eventually murmured,

"Okay, I'm sorry I've been kind of rude to you, its just that I grew up with a lot of siblings, so I guess I kinda feel like I need to prove that I'm better, its kind of in my blood, so yeah, sorry I misinterpreted."

There was a period of awkward silence between us, which was interrupted by the waitress bringing us two menus, which brought up a question to my mind.

"Hey Sophia, I was wondering, what exactly do you eat? Like do you eat certain things because your a grass type, or anything like that?" I asked, immediately regretting it when I hear Sophia snicker.

"Hold up, you couldn't have thought that we ate any different than you, right? I mean did you think since I'm a grass type I would eat dirt or something? Bwahahahahahah Oh My GOD!" Sophia broke into laughter, unable to control herself.

"Oh man, that was hilarious, you idiot." Sophia snickered, wiping a tear from her eye.

I was red with embarrassment, but I was mostly happy to see Sophia start to show some emotion around me, even if it was her laughing at my stupidity.

We chatted about both of our upbringings until our meals came, I had ordered a hamburger with fries, while Sophia had a chicken egg skillet. We both didn't speak as we scarfed down our meals, but as I was finishing my burger, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I turned around to see nobody there. I turned back to my meal and saw that Sophia's plate was empty, and her mouth was full. She swallowed her food and asked,

"What's wrong?"

"Did you see someone behind me? I felt a tap on my shoulder but no one was there when I looked."

"I didn't see anyone, but im sure if they need to talk to you, they'll just do it again, right?" Sophia responded, with a slight grin.

I went back to eating, but I once again felt a tap on my shoulder, but once again, no one was there. I began to dismiss this as maybe a waitress was just bumping me as she walked by or something.

I began eating my fries and my shake, when I felt it again, but this time I was ready, and turned around nearly instantly, when I saw a leafy vine quickly retreat under the table. I turned back around and saw Sophie, looking obliviously at the ceiling, with a mouth full of food, which made no sense considering she was long since finished, so I asked,

"Was that you, and what are you eating?" I said, noticing that my fry basket was emptier than before, "Have you been stealing my fries?"

Sophia gulped down the food in her mouth, "Guess I'm caught, I'm just still a bit hungry, and those fries just looked soooo goooooood...." She admitted.

"You know that if you want my fries, you can just ask right?"I said, sliding the basket over to her.

"Really? Okay, thank you." Sophia thanked with a subtle grin, before scarfing down my fries.
