Sneak into the kitchens

You know that some of the ingredients can be found in the Hogwarts kitchens. While you don't know exactly how the food is made, you're sure that there'll be a range of ingredients. In particular, you hope that you'll be able to find some thyme and some horseradish. Of course, you'll need to find those ingredients in the kitchens.

You wait until the castle is quiet, then head down to the Entrance Hall. From there, all you need to do is walk down the corridor, tickle the pear in the painting that is the entrance and you'll be in the kitchens. You pause in the shadows in the Entrance Hall and pull out the Marauders’ Map. You don't want to be surprised by someone and have to explain yourself, especially if the person catching you is Filch.

You're glad you checked the Marauders' Map because the corridor leading to the Kitchens isn't as deserted as you hoped. You squint at the small dots on the parchment and stare at the minute writing. Fred and George Weasley. You're obviously not surprised that they would be in the kitchens, as they're well known for their raids for snacks. Of course, they may be able to help you, but Fred and George usually ask for some payment and you're not sure if you'll be able to pay them.

There is an alternative, though. You could contact the house-elves directly and ask for their help. You know some of them who would help you, but will all the house-elves agree?
