Smooth Move Dipshit

As the die rattled around on the floor, I noticed that Siobhan was watching this with much more interest than I was. It's just a little piece of gaming equipment, right? The blue-haired woman in my kitchen however, was watching each and every bounce with rapt attention. That is, until, it came to a rest by my feet. Reaching down, I picked it up to see, yet again, one of the faces was glowing with a red hue.

The face in question?

Four.

"Ha! Real slick dude. Well, guess what? Your roll was unsuccessful. Extremely so. I'm out of here. No more questions, and no more backstory. You're on your own. Unless you want to just give it to me?" Shaking my head no, she continued. "And I'm taking the rest of the whiskey as payment for my time."

"Wait...what?"

"You just used the die, intentionally or not, to try and influence me into liking you more. You failed. In spectacular fashion. Before that...thing...hit the floor, you at least had a foot in the door, you'd let me closer to it than I'd ever been before. Now, I would rather not see you again. Ever."

"The die **** that change? Really?"

"Yes. Look, I get you don't fully believe it does what I say it does, but consider this a final warning. Be careful what you roll for. You'll have to live with the outcomes."

And with that, she was out the door and gone. And I was still standing in the kitchen, watching the crimson number four fade from the die, and feeling it slowly cool in my hand.
