Small Detour

As John was approaching the front door of the police department something caught his eye. There was a pregnant woman sitting on a bench talking on the phone not ten feet away from the door. John figures he could stir up some fun.

Removing the notebook from his bag John uncapped the truth marker. He then wrote *The pregnant woman in front of me fully believes she is pregnant with my child not her husbands* John wanted to see what this would do. He then stepped in front of the woman making sure she saw him.

The woman’s jaw seemed to drop she told the person on the phone something and hung up.

“John! What the fuck are you doing we can’t be seen here! You know my husband is just inside what would I tell him.” The woman said just loudly enough to get the point across not to attract attention.

“Sorry, I just wanted to see what you were up to. Also I lost my old phone I need your number again.” John said with a little chuckle.

The woman rolled her eyes. “Yeah, like I’d believe that story again.” She then scribbled something down on a paper. She then extended it out to John. “Don’t you lose it again jerk. You know how hard it is keeping up the act that this is my husbands child. Anyways you better go before someone sees us and don’t lose my number this time.” She then called someone else on the phone.

John quickly input the woman’s info into his phone. It had her name, address, and phone number. When John made it back to the door he looked over and saw an officer approach the pregnant woman. They talked and smiled at each other before walking off arm and arm. The officer must have been her husband.

John shook that off and set his focus fully on the police station.
