Slow and steady

Tegan was apprehensive even with your glowing review. Still, she was one of the people who thought you should do this and she acquiesced that Brenna was your best bet for getting this done. She wasn't charging you much and ask she really asked for was a place in the office once you won. That was easy enough.

You spent most of your time at the law office and Brenna would meet you there on your breaks to get stuff sorted. You couldn't deny how handy it was to have her around. She was incredibly driven and impossibly organized. It was like she could see every possible issue and had a fix for them.

"We'll lean into the 'lawyer' bit. In wrestling terms, Jake is already the heel. He operates outside of the law and is incredibly selfish. You, on the other hand, know the law extremely well and care about this town." Brenna said as she laid out her plans.

"We need to portray you as a stand-up guy who follows the rules. Maybe not quite a stickler, but definitely someone who knows how to do things the right way." She made some good points, but you still couldn't help but feel in over your head. You felt out of your depth as she spoke.

"I'm not really that kind of guy, too. I've fucked up in the past and am definitely not perfect," you shrugged. "Don't even see why they would want me to be mayor, honestly. I was never known in this town for my bravado or heroism."

"It sounds to me like you need to find your confidence." Her brow furrowed. "I have two ways of helping us with that. The first is a recommendation to my therapist friend while the other is a bit more unorthodox. "Either way, we need you to be confident, especially when you go out there to debate against that asshole."
