Sloanne, cynical and antisocial

"Wow...a monster. Who saw that coming?"

Other than Lila, everyone else in the room rolled their eyes. Every time they wanted to watch a movie it became an immediate chore to get through it without Sloane having something to say about it every few minutes. And tonight was absolutely an endurance test: A horror film.

Onscreen the lead character slammed the door behind them in the darkened basement, breathing heavily as she prayed in silence that she would make it out alive.

"Of course, cause doors are definitely gonna stop monsters."

"Can't you just give it a rest, Sloanne?" the guy sitting next to her said with impatience. Sloanne just rolled her eyes "Sorry I guess."

Lila leaned toward her "It's okay, they're not woke to this like we are."

"No kidding." Sloanne smirked. She never understood why Lila took such a liking to her to begin with, but she imagined it had something to do with them being roommates. Whoever you're with, you're bound to get along with in some capacity, right?

As expected, Lila got along with her fine, but even as Sloanne waited for the inevitable disappointment of Lila expecting more out of her, that never seemed to happen. It didn't take long for the other foot to drop with everyone else but Lila only seemed more happy to spend time with her, every chance she could get bringing her out to whatever event the school had or bringing her out with the beach to have fun in their last day of Junior year. Pretty much the only selfies or videos that Sloanne had on her phone consisted only of herself and Lila. She wouldn't say that loved Lila by any means, she definitely didn't swing that way. But she was happy to be around someone who understood her enough to be happy around her.

Same couldn't be said for the other idiots in the room. Why would they even like a film so obvious? What's the point of sitting through 2 hours of dumb jumpscares you can see coming from a mile away? 5...4....3....2....1.

Loud boom, scary face, screaming girl. Everyone in the room jumped but her.

"Oh no....scary..." Sloanne squeaked out a fake cry of fear.

"Sloanne, just go home already."

"Whatever, I don't care 'bout this movie anyway."

"No shit." Someone else in the room said.

Sloanne sighed as she stood up, Lila shortly after.

"Where are you going?" Sloanne asked with a dull voice.

"Uh, with you? We can watch something else with our suitemates?"

Sloanne just rolled her eyes "You don't need to pity me all the time."

"Then I won't!" Lila said, unfazed as she kept smiling "I'll watch a movie with my friend."

Damn it, Sloanne couldn't help but crack a slight smile "Thanks, I guess."

"C'mon, let's get outta here."

Outside the floor lounge, Wade waited quietly. He knew Lila was going to be at this movie and it was the perfect time to get her once she left. It took almost an hour for anything of note to happen. Halfway through it looked like she was getting up to leave but she went to the lounge restroom instead, but other than that, everyone stayed firmly rooted. Until now.

Sloanne and Lila were approaching the exit, wouldn't be long before he could finally call Lila his. All the things they'd do with each other, her soft beautiful body lying on his as he penetrated her. He almost chuckled aloud at the thought but had to lean back to cover his mouth so he wouldn't give himself away. In hindsight, however, it would be this decision that delayed her capture way more than if she ever discovered him.

Lila paused as she approached the exit.

"What's up?" Sloanne asked as she looked back.

"I forgot my bag real quick. Wait for me outside."

Sloanne shrugged "Ok." She continued walking toward the exit alone, the last time that anyone else ever saw Sloanne before she ceased to exist in the minds of all but one person: Wade.
