Slime?

As the creature got closer, you get a better look at it. It was a round, rippling ball of gelatin like material, springy and with a bounce to its movements. It bounced its way towards you slowly but certainly, you're still cautious, moving out of its way only for it to change its course and carry on heading towards you. This does not bode well for you, just as you were considering your options the slime like creature confirmed your suspicions. Out of the Slimes body shot a ball of a lighter green liquid, it splattered across your boney ribcage and started to sizzle and hiss, burning you like acid but causing no physical pain that you could feel.

The text read, whatever HP meant, it probably wasn't good that you lost some already, you had been careless letting the thing get so close to you while doing nothing to prepare yourself to dodge or evade. 'Observe' you called upon the ability once more, now accompanied by a ding that rang inside your head.

You notice the information you got from reading the slimes data wasn't as detailed as your own, was this perhaps due to your Observe level being too low? Brought out of your musings the slime spat another wad of goo at you, this time you managed tp dodge to the side as the projectile splattered to the floor with the same hiss you'd heard before. The acid ball fizzed and hissed until its light green color turned grey as the acid quickly lost its acidity.

Charging at the slime you thrust into the slimes gelatin covered body, piercing all the way through and quickly hopping back, the slime seemed completely unaffected, your nonexistent brow furrowed in confusion. 'Observe'. You call upon your one and only ability.

The HP that you had lost from the acid attack hadn't been the same for the slime, whose HP sat at the full 12 points. How come the slime could damage you but you couldn't damage the slime? That seemed a little unfair. However you notice the mana bar of the slime had fallen even lower this time, it seems that the acid attack cost the slime some kind of resource to cast it. You were still very unfamiliar with this game world and how it worked but you could at least deduce that much. Brought out of your thoughts, another acid blob had managed to strike you, this time in your left arm, causing it to hiss and fizz once more, a steam like gas rising from your burnt bone.

The damage seems to be consistent at least, even though you felt no pain you still chastised yourself for being so careless around the monster. You dont feel pain but that doesn't mean you can't die, right? You charge the slime once more, dodging yet another acid ball at the very last second, and strike the mass of goo once more, again to little or no affect. You jump back and cursed the rather harmless looking monster for its tenacity. 'Observe' you think again in a futile attempt to see if anything changed, however you're met with the sound of yet another ding inside your head.

Your eyes (sockets?) light up at reading the slimes ability, looking once more at the slime you manage to dodge yet another acid ball and this time you notice a singular darker core floating in the middle of the goo. This time you charge at the green ball of acid with purpose, your target had been acquired. Piercing the small green balls hard spherical inner core, the slime shook and writhed for a minute, you notice some more words appear above the slimes head.

The slime melted to the floor, its body losing its green color and turning into a grey like sludge just as its acid spit had done before, and just as quickly poofed out of existence. You pick up the potions and a single piece of paper the slime had dropped and put it away inside your inventory just as before. Taking in your environment once more you scan the scenery and fail to see any more enemies approaching, so you get to work in observing your own stats. You notice you'd been hit twice by the acid, checking your HP stat that you now had a pretty certain understanding of what it meant, you notice it had dropped to 14/20, you suddenly had an idea, taking out one of the health potions you had just picked up you bring the filled glass vial to your skeletal jaw, grasping the bottle in between your elbow and forearm in an attempt to drink it. As expected, the liquid poured down from your mouth, through your rib cage and splattered to the floor, having absolutely no affect.

'I can't use potions' You think to yourself dully, making yourself feel like a complete idiot, why would the potion work? You don't have a stomach! With a potion all used up, the vial in your arm remained. 'Empty Vial?' you read the text you saw while 'observing' the container. A thought suddenly crossed your mind, walking up to the underground pond-lake you submerge the vial in the water, filling the vial up and 'observing' it once more, the text now read 'Vial of spring water', returning your new item to your inventory you notice the other item you had picked up. 'Game Guide?' you ponder 'What kind of shit is a game guide? Is this a joke? Who'd want to play a board game down here?!' You ranted off in your mind, almost discarding the piece of paper but listening to your better judgement you pierce the paper on the end of your spear arm and raise the paper to your face, looking through its contents.

However your eyes soon lit up at the realization of what these stats were, finally understanding at least a little of what they mean.
