He managed to knock her off balance and they fell together. Sam whooped with triumph as Jake headbutted Janet. "Let him go, you piece of shit!"

"Fine, fine, I'll ungag you! Just calm my sister down!" She got to her feet and pushed Jake's chair back up. She ripped the duct tape off of his mouth with one motion and he coughed and gagged. "What the fuck are you doing?"

"Ask Sam, you fucking lunatic! It was her idea!" Sam snarled in response to this. "How are you this mad at me?"

Jake paused to think and Sam did too. "You know, I'm not. Of course I'm pissed but I'm nowhere near as angry as she is." He turned to Sam. "Is this like amplified for you or something?"

Her change in demeanor was instantaneous. She looked back at him curiously. "I don't know why it would be. Nothing else has been." A thought struck Jake. "You're not typically a very angry person, are you, Sam?"

"Ohh, I get it! You're generally angrier than me, so you've learned to control and manage your anger better! When I get a straight shot of the anger you felt I didn't have the impulse control you did, so while you kept it under wraps it sent me into a frothing rage! That's really weird!" She turned to Janet. "Janet, I'm so sorry. I really did want to kill you. I can't believe I was that angry at you."

"All is forgiven. I know it's not you, and I meant it when I said we're gonna get you back to the old you. And you-" she turned to Jake, "...hopefully you understand what I wanted to test here and why it was important to catch you by surprise. I'm genuinely sorry we tied you up but it was the only way to test this kind of situation."

He grumbled. "It's ok, I get it now. Just fucking let us go already."

"And if I do, you're not gonna try to strangle me or anything?" She turned to Sam. "Is he?"

"Nope, he gets it." Sam said. With a sigh of relief, Janet began to untie her sister.
