Slay him!

You grin and {if Gladius Held = True}spin your gladius in your hand{else}grip your spear more tightly{endif}. Time to kill another one of these scum. With a yell, you rush forward, cutting down one of the men between you and the massive one with a single blow.

As you swing your weapon toward the big man, though, he wheels around toward you. He's carrying a massive maul, and you just barely manage to twist out of the way as he brings it down into the place you were standing. It booms against the earth, and your charge is ruined. Gritting your teeth, you stab at him, but you only land a glancing blow.

"Stupid princeling," the brute snarls. Twisting, he swings the maul around toward you, and catches you in the ribs. Your own weapon is sent flying from your hands as you're thrown to the side, and you feel a sharp pain in your side as several of your ribs snap like twigs. You roll in the dirt, coughing and trying to stand - and then look up to see the hammer descending toward your face. It's the last thing you're ever likely to see.
