Slam

With a loud wood and masonry crack, the door burst inward, Jessica flinched, caught in the splash of the splinters and debris. She felt blood seep from her scratches. The beast collapsed through the front door and fell into their living room. Jessica steeled herself with a manic shout and charged the beast. Thwacking it well once, catching it in the jaw, and then again on the back. Suddenly the thing was on its hind legs, pressing into the ceiling. Its bright yellow eyes boring into her. She raised her club for another blow. But then the claws-hands wrapped around her, lifting her easily, bringing her toward its mouth full of sharp teeth.

After running away all night, Jessica didn't have the mindset or experience to fight here with only a cane. And after agitating the beast that much, it wasn't as concerned about its other needs. If its any consolation, her aunt made it out alright.
