Pursuing Satyrs

The next morning passes quickly. I gather my supplies and head out determined to find a trophy that will gain Nadya’s acknowledgement. The morning hours pass quickly as I search for signs of a worthy quarry. My senses are heightened with proper rest, and I feel confident I will find something worthy today.

I notice multiple large hoof tracks in the ground ahead of me, likely from a heard of prey animals. “Where there is large prey, there will be large predators”, I think as I follow the tracks while making sure to move quietly. The tracks lead me to a clearing where I see something I wasn’t expecting. Four men, satyrs with the legs of goats are in the clearing talking amongst themselves.

With all the stealth I can muster I approach the clearing and listen in on their conversation:

The Satyr that must be Sebastian turns beet red at the taunt. “Unlike you I have standards. I’m waiting for someone better than the local options Lucas.”

Lucas laughs in response, “You sure are good at waiting then, If that’s what you call getting rejected by Calliope”.

Sabastian retorts, “Like she didn’t turn you down too!”

Lucas responds raising an eyebrow, “Really, are you sure she didn’t turn me down Seb?”

Sabastian responds, “I do remember seeing your face red with a palm print last night.”

Lucas’s face flashes with something dangerous as he kicks out Sebastian’s legs, sending Sebastian falling backwards on the ground.

Lucas leans over Sebastian while placing a hoof on Sebastian chest. “Remember, this moment. You’ll always be the runt of the tribe Sebastian. Even if she had said yes to you, you have no practice or game. She’d never keep you.”

Lucas takes his hoof of Sebastian’s chest and leaves the clearing with the two other Satyrs. Sebastian lies on the ground.

I consider the four Satyrs from my hiding place at the edge of the clearing. This… would work, capturing a Satyr would likely impress Nadya.
