Skinny Dipping

As Kristen sat there, she suddenly realized what it looked like from her parent’s perspective. She had been gone for hours on end, and then once the storm had rolled in, she didn’t show for at least fifteen minutes. Once she arrived, she didn’t have a stitch of clothing on her, and looked disheveled because of the wind. From her parents perspective, Kristen could understand her mom’s wide eyed concern, and her father’s stern glance.

“...I’m fine. I just... I decided to swim naked for a bit, and left my swimsuit at the other end of the beach, near the bridge. When the rain came in, I got scared... so I just made run for it.” She explained carefully. The look of relief on both her parent’s faces after finding out nothing terrible had happened to her other than an embarrassing streak up the beach seemed to ease the tension in the room. Kristen herself almost sighed with relief, but then she repeated the story to herself in her head. “I didn’t bring a change of clothes...” Kristen thought, her face reddening as she crossed her legs in front of her body, and began looking around in the backseat for something to cover up with. Only a few half-empty bottles of water and a single notecard-sized coupon were what she could immediately see, causing Kristen to internally curse her parent’s constant insistence on keeping the car clean. Without any cover in sight, Kristen looked up to her parent’s who were both suppressing a laugh. “...Is there a towel I can use?” Kristen pleaded, avoiding eye contact sheepishly.

Kristen’s mom began to chuckle, which quickly began to transform into a laugh. “Afraid not. Your dad left them at the house” She stated blankly, turning back around towards the front.

Kristen’s father shook his head with a smile, before turning back towards the front. “Buckle up, we’ve got a long trip home. Traffic’s jammed up since there was a bad crash on the highway.”

Kristen looked back up, shocked at what she was hearing. She was about to speak, when her mom quickly spoke up again. “Hope you’re comfortable. Doesn’t look like you’ll be getting out of the car anytime soon!” She said with a laugh.

“Isn’t there anything I can wear? What if someone sees me?” Kristen stammered. The thought of being naked for the entire ride mortified her, especially in the presence of her parents. Her mom already appeared to be getting her own kicks out of the ordeal, despite the embarrassment her daughter had endured.

“Just crouch down, and you’ll be fine. Not like they’ll be able to see in here anyway with the tint on the windows.” She explained. Her father finally put the car into drive, and began to maneuver out of the parking lot.

Kristen looked out the window, as the car began to move out onto the road. She begrudgingly buckled her seatbelt, staring out over the ocean and gray sky. “I can’t believe i didn’t think about having a change of clothes...” Kristen thought to herself, being sure to keep her knees crossed in front of her to keep her nudity less blatant.
