Show Mercy

Wonder Woman’s head snaps in your direction, shock registering on her face.

“You dropped something earlier when you were tearing things,” you say with mock-sadness, “I guess you forgot about me, huh?"

The Amazon looks like she wants to rip your head off, but other than her head nothing moves. “Villain! I underestimated your perfidy,” she snarls as she tries to gain control of her anger.

“I legit have no idea what that word means. But yes, you underestimated me.” You motion with your end of the lasso, “Clearly.”

Two guards rush up and grab the half-naked beauty, “But you didn’t arrange all this.” It’s not a question.

“Naw. I’m good, but I know my limits. No shame calling in a bigger dog when the situation calls for it.”

A brisk woman’s voice chimes in, “I’m not crazy about being called a dog, but otherwise that’s a very sound philosophy.”

You and your prisoner both turn to see a woman in a tight-fitting black uniform jacket and skirt. Her blonde hair is pulled back into a tight bun, her face is sharply beautiful. Her 'sexy gestapo' outfit perfectly hugs a trim athletic figure, and her legs are the second best you’ve seen all week. She exudes confidence and control of the room.

“Mercy Graves!” Wonder Woman growls at the newcomer. “I should’ve known.”

"I agree you really should've," Ms. Graves pulls out another collar like the one that had been on the catch pole. “I love what you’ve done with your wardrobe, bee tee dubs,” she taunts as she fits the collar around the Amazon’s neck and snaps it closed. The collar emits a humming sound, and a light flashes red then turns green.

Diana turns her head in your direction, “What would lead you sell me to the likes of Lex Luthor?”

“Money,” you say without apology. “Daddy’s got bills to pay, and I don’t know if you realize it but parking garage security isn't super lucrative.”

“A particular shame when the individual in question is so clearly capable of more,” Mercy says giving you an appreciative smile. “Capturing the mighty Wonder Woman, not once but twice in a week!”

You shrug, “I mean, they did kinda soften her up for me,” you say indicating the guards.

“False modesty isn’t a valued trait here at Lexcorp,” Ms. Graves says seriously. “In both cases you saw an opportunity and took advantage of the situation decisively and effectively. Initiative and good judgement are a valuable combination."

Another guard comes up with a set of grossly oversized handcuffs. Wonder Woman offers no resistance as he fastens her wrists behind her back. A light on the cuffs turns green to match the collar, and you can feel the tension in the room drop as the guards relax.

Ms. Graves motions for you to hand the lasso to one of her guards, so you do. She then motions with her chin back down the hall, and the guards start to march the captured heroine down the hall.

“Enjoy your 30 pieces of silver!” Wonder Woman calls back as they drag her away.

Before you can think of a comeback, Ms. Graves says “Silver has so little value anymore, I’m sure we can do better than that.” She puts a hand on your elbow and steers you towards a different door. “I think you’re going to fit in perfectly here at LexCorp.”

A guard opens the door and you move to pass through, but a tightened grip on your elbow stops you. You turn and meet Ms. Graves gaze. “And before you get any ideas: try anything on me and I’ll cut your balls off and mail them to your mother.” Her smile is icy and her eyes are hard.

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” you agree, your head suddenly full of ‘anythings’ you’d like to try on her. But for now you return her smile and follow her through the door to your new job.
