Should've read the fine print

"What the hell is going on!?" The first to speak was Zoe.

In fact, the only one around was Zoe, for she was now split in four. Each of the Zoes already starting to feel that hot, dreaded sensation that signaled an imminent split.

"Shit! This wasn't what I had in mind!" the right most Zoe cursed as she tried to hold herself together, not wanting the house to be filled with an army of Zoes.

"The book! The book should say something about this! Quick! The me closest to the book read what it says!" Another panicked Zoe looked around in shock at her clones, realizing how bad things could be if the spell wasn't stopped in time.

"Got it!" The left most Zoe grabbed the spellbook, which was left open on the page for the duplication spell, and the other 3 Zoes crowded around her to scan the page for an explanation or a remedy.

"There's some fine print on the bottom!" One Zoe noticed as she pointed at a small section of text at the very bottom of the page.

"Typical me! Didn't bother to read the other details before jumping in!" The Zoe next to her muttered angrily under her breath.

"Let's see what it says!" Another Zoe pulled the book closer to read the fine print.

Additional Note:

For spellcasters with extremely large amounts of magical power, this spell can cause an "upset" of sorts, causing their overactive magic powers to perform the spell many times over against the user's will.

"Why do they put the most important information in the smallest text pos-" before one of the Zoes could complete her sentence, the warm feeling overwhelmed all of them as they bent over and closed their eyes, their spellcaster's mark glowing extremely bright...

And when they opened their eyes again, the 4 had become an 8.
