Shots, Shots, Shots

You give Melanie a questioning look as she orders the shots asking, “Shots? Already?”

She jokingly replies, “what’s the matter old man, don’t think you can handle it?”

Kat jumps in the conversation saying, “Come on! It’s just one shot!”

“Yeah, just one shot…” you think to yourself. “If I were still 25, no big deal but at 40….”

You begrudgingly accept the shot but catch the bartenders attention asking for a glass of water as well. The ladies find this humorous and give you a hard time.

After a minute or so of their teasing you, the shots arrive and you are toasting each other. Melanie says, “Here’s to my new found friend Ryan! May he enjoy his red headed slut!”

Kat clinks glasses and says, “or maybe two brunettes instead!” as she winks at Melanie.

Her comment catches you off guard and you feel a stirring in your shorts. You clink glasses with the ladies and throw back the shot. It is better than you remember or expected. You catch the bartender’s attention and order a round of Three Wiseman. You tell the ladies, “If I have the pleasure of Red Headed Sluts then you two will get to enjoy the pleasure of Three Wise Men.”

Kat and Melanie look at each other, with a devilish grin Melanie says, “I don’t know about three wise men but one strong man will do just fine as she rubs up against your arm.”

The flirting between the three of you continues until the next round of shots arrive. This time you initiate the toast by saying, “Here’s to two beautiful woman entertaining a lucky old man on a Saturday night!” They both blush at your comment before taking the shot. Melanie downs it with ease but Kat struggles to get it down.

You notice her struggling with the shot and jokingly offer her some of your water. She pushes the water away and grabs your arm to pull you closer while saying, “I don’t need that but if I’m lucky I will have a tall glass of water later tonight.”

The flirting continues, mixed with some great conversation and a couple more rounds of drinks. You look at your watch and realize it is nearly 10 pm, “no wonder I’m getting tired,” you think to yourself. You take this opportunity to tell the ladies that it has been a long day and you are getting ready to leave. Sitting next to each other, the ladies lean in toward one another whispering to each other. After a moment or two, they both agree it’s time to call it a night. You close out your tab and head to the door as a group.

Once outside, you take a deep draw of the brisk evening air and offer to walk the ladies to their car. As you begin walking through the parking lot you can tell the ladies have had too much to drink to be driving. When you arrive at Melanie’s car you say, “You two have had plenty to drink tonight and I’m not sure you should be driving.”

The ladies reluctantly agree. When you offer to get them an Uber Kat insists that she doesn’t trust a stranger to give her a ride and begs you to drop them off at Melanie’s house instead. You all head to your car and Melanie hops in the passenger seat with Kat riding in the back.

“Where do you live?” you ask Melanie.

“We live in the Pinebrook neighborhood over by the high school.” she replies.

You ask Melanie for her address and pop it into google maps. Sure enough, she lives less than 1/2 mile from your house just on the other side of the high school campus. “Small world,” you think to yourself.

With that, you begin the brief cross town trip to drop them off. The ladies chat about random things on the way back as you concentrate on getting everyone back safely. You are feeling the buzz from your drinks and wonder if you really should be driving.

As you pull into Melanie’s driveway, she turns toward you and puts her left hand on your thigh giving it a little squeeze while thanking you for getting them back safely. She leans over, giving you a kiss on the cheek and invites you to join them inside for a homemade apple pie she baked earlier that afternoon.
