Chapter 11 by latexdoll latexdoll

What are you going to do?

Shopping obviously.

You can't help but assume the owner of this inn will not want you to take one of their fine silk sheets, but sadly you don't have any money other than the sapphire, and you can't exactly sell it from here or wander around naked. “So I will just borrow it.” Carefully you fold the white sheet in half, then, after several failed attempts, manage to wrap it around yourself just right so that all your naughty bits are covered and you don't look like someone wrapped in a bed sheet. Over this you strap on the weapon belt, load and holster the pistol, and pack everything, including the little chest, into the magic bag. Taking a few moments to apply just a little bit of makeup, you comb your hair, clean up a bit, and use the toilet before finally, nearly an hour later, decide it is time to venture forth.

Stepping out of the room you find the wooden floor to be rough and cold, instantly you decide the first stop is somewhere to buy some shoes. Your room opens to a hall of small doors, dimly lit by a window at the end of the hall to the right and a wall mounted lamp to the left that is at the top of a staircase heading down. From the stairs you can hear the muffled sound of someone playing a stringed instrument you would have to guess is similar to a harp. A man's voice is singing as well and as you head down the stairs it grows in volume till the staircase opens into a large room that is clearly an eating establishment as well as an inn. You get to the bottom of the stairs before anyone says anything to you. A man in his mid twenties with auburn hair, a few freckles, and a nice smile walks up to you and asks, “Can I get you something to eat?” He then looks you over head to toe with a grin and adds, “Is that one of the bedsheets?”

“You don't mind if I borrow it do you? I am going out to do some shopping. I seem to have lost all of my clothes.”

You can tell he isn't quite sure how to handle the situation as he stammers a bit in his answer. “Well I guess that is all right, your aunt paid for you to stay for another six days, including meals. You say all of your clothes are gone?”

“It has been an odd few days. Is there some place nearby that I can sell a gem?” You ask.

“Sure, but you can't go outside with no shoes, your feet will freeze off.” As he says this it dawns on you that the room is rather cold, yet if he didn't say it you wouldn't really have noticed, as if you were somehow protected against the cold.

“Don't worry, I'll run fast.” You answer and while you are pretty sure he thinks you are an idiot he clearly has been ordered not to argue with the guests and he doesn't press the issue. He points to the right after you ask which way to go, and you stride out the large wooden doors leading outside. Sure enough the ground is covered in about two inches of snow, but as you suspected while it is clearly cold, your feet feel perfectly fine, in fact the snow is really soft, and squishes between your sexy little toes. Then again as you walk out into the narrow street you can't help but get the feeling that you shouldn't flaunt that you have magic, or demon blood, or whatever it is protecting you from the cold.

It doesn't take long to find the little jeweler’s shop, and you make your way inside. After a fair bit of haggling you walk back out of the place with a pretty good sum of money as well as a fair understanding of the currency of the land. It would seem that the silver piece is the primary currency with copper pieces each being worth a tenth of one and gold being worth twenty silver each. You also learn that a good horse would cost you two hundred silver, or ten gold, and a copper piece would buy you a chicken. For larger purchases people seem to rely on gems although the jeweler did mention a trade bar worth one hundred gold, but he didn't have any of them to show you, so you don't know what one is exactly. For your sapphire you were able to get a hundred gold pieces, five pearls that you are told are each worth that much, a pair of rubies that are each worth a thousand gold, and a very nice magical silver dagger with an 11" blade that he had taken in trade some time ago. You did get a bit more than that but you used that to purchase a small scale that seemed like a good investment, as well as a little magnifying glass and a water proof scroll tube that he had for sale. The jeweler seemed to know some magic and said that with training your ability to detect and read magic, with training, could allow you to sense the values of jeweled or magical items, which was something to think about.

With a rather impressive sum of wealth you next turned your sights on the tailors shop and make your way there. The older woman working there was quite helpful and you spend the better part of the day trying on various articles of clothing and all sorts of shoes. Eventually you get hungry and decide you had better finish clothes shopping and go get something to eat.

What is your style?
