Shoot it with your rifle. (Requires Rifle)

In a blink of an eye, the rifle slung over your back is in your hands. You pull the trigger before the thing has even an instant to react, hosing it with a long burst of automatic fire as your ammunition display counts down.

It roars and pounces towards you, closing about half the distance before succumbing to the gunshot wounds riddling it. The creature a huge, black furred wolf-like humanoid beast, collapses to the ground, dragging itself a few more feet towards you, before falling slack.

This thing's fucking huge!

You crouch down next to it, poking it with the barrel of the rifle a few times, before double-tapping it in the head with a pair of shots. No sense taking any risks. Your work done, you enter the ranger cabin, locking the door and barring it with the rotten remains of a sofa, before setting up impromptu bedding from your sleeping bag and a thermal blanket in the corner.

With the confidence boost of slaying the monster, it doesn't take you long to get to sleep, despite your dangerous surroundings.
