Shock and emotion

Naruto sighed as he waited for Temari and Shion to return, he closed his eyes and thought of the fast approaching wedding day. “I wonder how that’s going to work out. Well, I’m sure the old lady has it all under control.”, Naruto mumbled to himself.

Lost in thought, he was snapped back into reality as he felt a light hit to his head. “Hey!”, Naruto said looking up to see Temari looking at him funnily. “Hey nothing, Naruto, you fall asleep while on duty, you get what you deserve”, she scolded him. Naruto frowned. “Speaking of duty, aren’t you supposed to be watching Shion-chan?”, Naruto asked, making Temari laugh.

“She’s fine, she told me to go ahead and tell the hokage the temple is in good shape. Anyway, it doesn’t count because she will be here soon”, Temari explained. Naruto smirked at her usual attitude. “Well I think I deserve a break, I just got chewed out by your brother a moment ago, and I’m getting married soon”, he defended himself.

Temari smiled “Oh yeah, did Gaara talk to you about me being one of your wives?”, Temari asked, making him look at her in surprise “What, you mean YOU put Gaara up to this?”, Naruto asked incredeously, making Temari’s grin widen. “All I said to him was that you are a good friend of his, that relations between our village could be improved, and you were cute, whatever he did was his own decision...”, Temari replied, feigning innocence.

Naruto sighed as he hung his head “I should have known...”, he muttered making Temari frown cutely. “Now, don’t be that way Naruto, we need to have a baby to promote peace between our villages, yeah a baby… or maybe five...”, Temari mused.

Naruto looked up at her in shock, but before he could question her about it, he saw Temari pointing behind him. Turning around Naruto found a face, framed with light blonde hair, inches away from his making him jump back in shock and falling onto the floor.

“Naruto, are you ok?”, that person asked, making Naruto look up. “Oh hey, Shion-chan, yeah I’m fine, you just surprised me, that is all.”, Naruto said from his place on the floor before he got back to his feet. “Um… you were saying Temari-chan?” Naruto asked rubbing his head only to see she had left. “Where’d Temari-chan go?”, he wondered.

Shion shrugged. “I think she went back inside with the hokage, right now I have to talk o you about something important…and it cant wait!”, Shion said with a serious look on her face, making Naruto slightly nervous. He hadn’t seen her this serious since he had first taken the mission that they met on. “Hehe, ok Shion-chan, just tell me where you want to go.”, Naruto panicky replied.

Shion smiled brightly. “Good, how about taking me to the hokage monument, we can discuss it there.” Naruto nodded slowly silently wondering why she wanted to go to such an out of the way place to talk in the first place. Most of the time the monument was free of visitors, and the only time people went up there was for the view of the village with the setting sun. This early in the day though, they might be the only ones there.

Shion practically dragged Naruto through the village as they made their way up to the faces of the old hokage’s and much like Naruto had thought, with the exception of themselves, the whole place was deserted.

“Wow Naruto! Why didn’t you tell me this place was so big?”, Shion exclaimed, looking out at the village. Naruto however was still preoccupied with what Gaara had been talking about and what Temari had in mind.

“I cant believe I have to marry Temari-chan, not that I don’t want to, but I’m still a little weirded out how many kids she wants to have”, Naruto muttered to himself earning a smack to the back of his head by Shion.

“OW!”, Naruto yelped as he rubbed his head in pain. “What was that for, Shion-chan?”, Naruto yelled only to cringe at the look on her face. “I ask for a moment of your time to ask something important of you and you don’t even listen when I’m talking? Hell, you're even thinking about another girl while I’m right here next to you!”, Shion asked, sound quite annoyed with him. She turned around before she spoke on. “I thought your Nindo was never go back on a promise!”, Shion said not even looking at him. She seemed to be blushing.

“Huh?”, Naruto asked surprised. “It is, but why would you bring that up?”, Naruto said, making Shion look down at the ground. “You broke your promise to me… you said you’d help me bear an heir, and then you went and returned to your village. You never came back!”, Shion yelled before looking at him with a face of anger and sadness. “I hope your happy”, she whispered.

Naruto felt a pang of guilt. He remembered what she was upset about now; he had promised that and even if it was after the heat of battle, it was still a promise.

“Shion-chan, I’m sorry, I mean I didn’t realize what you wanted, but… if you want I wouldn’t mind keeping my promise when we’re married.”, Naruto said quietly, making Shion look at him a moment before quickly closing the distance between them and putting her face into his chest in a hug. “So I guess that’s a yes?”, Naruto asked, glad that her anger was over. With a smile as Shion nodded into his chest. They stood there a minute just holding each other before Naruto lifted her face to his and they shared a short kiss.

“This is better than any vision I have had of this.”, Shion sighed happily before they started walking back to the village. As they made their way back to the tower, Naruto saw a familiar pink haired girl looking around. “Hey Sakura-chan!”, Naruto yelled getting her attention and a smile. “Oh Naruto, I see you already found Shion, huh?”, Sakura asked with a knowing smile, getting a nod from Naruto. “Listen Naruto, I have something I need to talk to Shion about, so you can do this for me...”, she said as she tossed him a small container.

“What’s this, Sakura-chan?”, Naruto asked getting a smile from the girl. “That’s the last of the prescription Tsunade-sensei made for Isaribi. You were out on a mission and didn’t hear it, but the operation Tsunade-sensei did cured her and this is helping her get over it faster.”, Sakura said as she took Shion by the hand and dragged her away with her “Thanks, Naruto!”, Sakura yelled as she ran away with Shion in tow.

Naruto smiled looking at the container in his hands. “So, that’s what it is about, huh?”, he mumbled as he walked towards the clinic with this new errand.
