She wants your help

"Mr. Carter, I wonder if I could speak to you privately for a moment," Valerie's mother asks. Brian raises his eyebrows at you and smiles at the woman before departing. She looks at you with a tight smile and a slightly apologetic look.

"I'd like to discuss Valerie with you Mr. Carter. I know we are meeting tomorrow, but obviously you have reached something in my daughter that others have not. I know we didn't make the best impression, her father and I, but I am very concerned for Valerie. If you've found a way to help her, so quickly after meeting her, I'd like to learn from you." She touches your arm, giving you a hopeful smile, and you realise that she's an attractive woman, with a hint of what an older Valerie might look like.

"I'd like to invite you to dinner Mr. Carter. Pick your brain for ways to help my daughter. I know I may not be the ideal mother, and I admit to making my share of mistakes, but I do care for her. Please help me help her Mr. Carter."
