Chapter 8 by SergeantC

Does Savannah try to escape, or look for a weapon?

She tries to escape

Savannah thought about the machete the creep out there was armed with. Then she thought about the knives she could find in the kitchen. All of them were smaller and shorter than the creep's machete. Savannah knew nothing about fighting, but it was still obvious to her that she couldn't fight a machete with a kitchen knife.

She was going to have to run.

She stood, then crept to the door. She placed her hand on the door and turned the knob. She waited, heart pounding, ears straining for any evidence that the killer was in the hallway, waiting for her. She couldn't hear anything.

Slowly, nervously, Savannah pushed the door open, trying to be as quiet as she could. When the door was open far enough for her to squeeze through, she crept out into the hallway. She pushed the door shut, then looked around.

The hallway was empty. Shadows wreathed the hallway in darkness.

Not turning on any lights, Savannah crept down the hall, stopping every few feet to look around her and listen for any sign of her attacker.

Finally, her nerve-wrackingly slow progress brought her to the end of the hallway. In front of her was the door she had entered by earlier, which now offered her a way to escape and a chance of safety. A curtain covered the small window that gave a limited view of the grounds outside the sorority house. She reached for the door handle.

A closet door just behind her slammed open. Savannah let go of the door handle and turned to face the closet.

The creep in the Stabbear costume ran out of the closet, machete raised high.

Savannah screamed.

Does Savannah run or fight?
