She tries to cut the rope

She really did not want to be caught as helplessly as she was now. She was not sure how yet, but she was gonna get out of these ropes on her own. She looked around the little square she was on, flanked by quaint little houses and a few larger buildings. There was a pleasant shade and a few trees too. Most windows were shuttered, but she realized anyone in those homes could probably easily see her if they looked outside. She did notice a metal fence by the side of one of those houses. Maybe she could use that to cut her ropes?

She hobbled on over to it, hands still firmly tied behind her back. She sidled up to the fence, trying to get the ropes caught on the spikes atop it, careful not to accidentally cut herself. It was not easy. She tried and tried, but she could get the spike to fray the rope. She was still painfully out in the open. It was only a matter of time before anyone would see catch her.

Suddenly, the spike slipped in between the tightly bound ropes. Julie sank to her knees, her arms painfully suspended behind her. Ouch! She tried to get up, but couldn't lift her arms back up over the spike. She was stuck! She struggled and tried to free herself but to no avail. What could she do now? She could not stay here forever! Maybe it was time to call for help? Or would she just keep trying to slice the rope, now that it was caught on the metal bar?
