She threatens you

"I think I'll tell Grandfather what you did to me," she says quietly, looking up at you sullenly. Her chin is wobbling, but there is defiance in her eyes.

"Really," you smile cruelly at her. "And what do you think would happen then?"

"He'd fire you, or he'd do something," she answers, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

"If he cared a damn about you, he'd have you working in his department, doing something that paid more money. He knows how incompetent you are Meghan. I've talked to him about you. He asked me not to fire you, but told me to take whatever steps I thought necessary to train you. Whatever steps, Meghan. Do you understand."

Her eyes widen a little and she looks even more uncertain. "He wouldn't have meant you to... to... do that to me." She nods toward the desk.

"Wouldn't he?" You smile at her again. "Would you like to come with me and talk to him about it right now, Meghan?"

"Sir?" She looks confused.

"It's not a difficult question, Meghan. You and I go see your Grandfather and talk to him about what happened. See what he says."

"You don't mean it, Sir," she stammers, looking more confused.

"Oh I do, Meghan. I'm very serious. Because I know what his opinion will be. He's very old fashioned about secretaries. He thinks they should do what they're told and obey their boss. He'll think you deserved everything you got. Hell, he might even fire you for complaining."

She looks uncertain, chewing her lip, her hands smoothing her dress.

"Yes, all in all I think it's best we go see him now, Meghan. You can make your little complaint and see what it gets you." You move towards her and take her arm, gesturing towards the door.
