I looked at her and decided to respond in a more adult and responsible way.

• "Maggie, why did you steal it? You shouldn't do things like that."
• "I just thought you would be interested in trying it out."
• "Come on Maggie, it's both unethical and unhygienic. You should really get your own first."
• "Oh, ok, I understand. I don't wanna push you. I'll return it then if you think it's the right way."
• "I am glad you realized that. So how about the notes?"
• "They are on my desk." She looked visibly disappointed, but it was the right thing to do.

I grabbed the notes and hugged her. We spoke for a few more minutes about some minor things and I went on my way to university. I thought about her proposal, but it just felt too weird to me.
