Chapter 9 by Flamesofdarkness
How does Annabeth react to this information?
She should be jealous, right?
"She's gone," Annabeth said out loud, to let Rachel and Percy know. "She didn't give me much, though apparently the lamp is just for the aesthetic, so she might not have been sealed in there at all, and it might have nothing to do with that region of the world."
"What about the other bit?" Rachel asked curiously. "What already happened?"
"Just, uh, how we defeated Gaea." Annabeth said quickly. Maybe she'd tell Rachel and Percy later, but she didn't need to right now– they both probably already knew it anyways.
Rachel's eyes pierced into Annabeth, and for a second Annabeth thought that Rachel would call her out for holding something back, but the moment passed. "So. I can't see her, and you guys aren't going to the gods. Any thoughts on your next wish?" Rachel asked, her tone neutral.
"Nothing yet," Annabeth shrugged distractedly. "Now that we know some of the extent of her powers, maybe we could get Damasen and Bob out of Tartarus? But we're not sure how to make it sexy." She cast her eyes down to the floor again. Why had Inara said that? Did she want Annabeth to try and make a wish to have Percy only interested in her? No, that–
Suddenly, she was jolted out of her thoughts by a question Rachel asked.
"–refractory period?" Rachel finished.
Annabeth decided to let Percy answer this one, given that she hadn't heard most of it.
"They're a Titan and a Giant, that probably isn't a problem for them, right?" Percy looked to her for confirmation, and she nodded. "And anyways, we do have a few more of these wishes, so it might make sense to get as much value as we can out of each one, Annabeth was saying."
Rachel hummed, in what seemed like agreement. "That makes sense, I suppose. I can try and think of some wishes, I guess? Maybe, I don't know, try and do something for the environment, fulfill Pan's desires?"
Huh. Why hadn't Annabeth thought of that? "That's definitely a good idea," she found herself saying. "Yeah, maybe that's what we'll wish for tonight? If we don't think of something else, that is."
After leaving Rachel's cave, though, they split up. Percy had work to do, and Apollo was taking her to Olympus. So, Annabeth found herself tossing a drachma into the mist generated by a sprayer at the back of the Big House. "Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow," she incanted, "Please accept my offering. Show me Apollo on Mount Olympus." Soon, the mist resolved into the image of Apollo, who seemed to be at a bar of some kind, music playing loudly.
"Huh? Oh, right, I'm supposed to pick you up tonight, right?" Apollo asked, with what looked like a minor god in his lap. They were clearly both a bit flushed, and had been making out. Though... it was odd. Objectively, Apollo looked just the same as always, but he just... wasn't attractive, not in the same way.
"Apollo," the god whined, and Annabeth noted that although he was definitely well proportioned, she didn't find him attractive either. It was like the part of her that was attracted to– oh. Her wish.
"Give me a second, babe," Apollo said, oblivious to the sudden realization that had washed over Annabeth. Then he turned to her. "I'll be there in a second," he said, and waved his hand through the mist.
Despite her current realization, she still rolled her eyes. So. She'd been totally changed by the wish, in terms of her sexuality, even if that wasn't what she'd meant by sexuality. On the other hand, she could scarcely call it a monkey's paw, either, could she? She'd gotten what she'd asked for, and, well, she and Percy were in this for the long term. So did it really matter if she didn't find other people attractive?
Then, she hesitated. She was bi, or at least she was before this, but, well, Annabeth was far from an idiot. Guys in general were socialized in a way where finding lesbians hot was fairly common, so that might mean that–
In a slight flash of light, though nothing compared to what might happen if he'd come in his divine form, Apollo arrived. He cleared his throat.
"Like a warm sunbeam
To advise the architect
Apollo arrives."
Internally, she groaned, then pushed her other thoughts aside. "Apollo," she started. "You're back to the haiku phase? I thought you were working on the Valdezinator, still?"
"Progress is going... more slowly than expected, on that front," Apollo said. "I'll get there, though. I am the God of Music, after all."
"Yes, and speaking of, could we go up to your temple? I had some ideas I wanted to ask you about to incorporate that aspect. I feel like the current design you're requesting is perhaps a bit too–"
"Close your eyes, please, one ride on Air Apollo coming right up," he interrupted, and Annabeth was quick to do so. "Now, open them," he said. Suddenly, they were within Apollo's temple, a whiteboard in front of them. It was a gaudy space, if Annabeth was being honest, with too much Imperial gold and celestial bronze all around to emphasize Apollo's aspects as a sun god. She looked at it once again with a bit of judgement in her eyes.
Frankly, Apollo had been just about the hardest to design a fitting space for, she mused to herself. He liked statues of himself, as he'd stated a few times, and while she'd taken some cues from Camp Jupiter's designs, that didn't quite fit with the rest of the space in a satisfying way, and it especially didn't look good with Artemis' temple so nearby.
Of course, she couldn't say any of this quite so overtly. Instead, she had to take a more oblique approach. "Apollo, I was thinking that although you have a space for the muses within this complex, I'm not sure if your skills as a god of music are really emphasized properly, not in the way they could be. If you could just pull up a projector?" she asked, pulling out her laptop where some of her notes were.
After a while of back and forth, involving her explaining why they couldn't just have the musical notes orbit a scale model of the sun because it would look bad, Apollo had finally fallen quiet and had started pondering what she'd set out, and Annabeth could think about what she'd realized– and also, the fact that Rachel and Percy were both mutually crushing on one another. But first, was she still– she felt herself flush, as she imagined Rachel eating her out. Yeah, okay, still hot, so her sexuality hadn't changed completely, it had just... narrowed a bit. That was fine, and just because Percy found the idea of her with another girl hot, didn't mean that they had to do it. Everyone has their kinks, after all. Then, she expanded her thought experiment. Sure, she didn't find Apollo hot, but– nope, even picturing him eating her out just... wasn't interesting to her. When she imagined Percy doing it, though, and her mind flashed back to yesterday, she could feel a tingle of arousal go down her spine.
Then, suddenly, her mind put together the two obvious images, and suddenly she was picturing Percy eating out Rachel, and from there it was a short jump to Rachel blowing Percy like Annabeth herself had last night. She could see Rachel licking even more frantically at Percy's length, holding it between her breasts and massaging it with them as well, just the head in her mouth. She could picture herself, as well, hand in her slit, rubbing at herself, and she could imagine how good it would feel, seeing Percy enjoy himself like that, and–
She caught herself. Fuck, what the hell was she thinking? She hadn't ever fantasized over something like this before, even if before she hadn't realized Percy and Rachel liked each other. There was clearly only one cause of this, her most recent wish. Obviously, it was totally fine to have fantasies like this, and it was totally fine to have Percy have them too, since she knew he'd never cheat on her. But– fuck. Now the picture was in her head. How was she going to look– oh, Apollo was talking.
"–so I can totally hit you guys up next time I stop by, right?" he finished, looking at her expectantly. Suddenly, she realized she'd been nodding along unconsciously. It was only the natural response when confronted with as much prattle as Apollo could produce, after all.
"Uh, apologies, Lord Apollo, I zoned out for a second. Can you repeat what you said?" Best to err on the side of caution, in this case.
Apollo practically pouted. "I spend all this effort on putting out a nice offer, and you can't even bother to listen? You're lucky Percy is worth it."
"Percy?" She asked, confused for a second. Then, suddenly, the pieces began coming together. "You still want to sleep with him?" A while ago, Percy had mentioned Apollo hitting on him at a party, and Annabeth had brushed it off. But this was a bit more worrying.
"Uh, yeah? Here, I composed a haiku to represent my burning passion–"
"No, no it's okay, Lord Apollo," Annabeth hastily dodged, her mind racing.
"Anyways, come on. That expression he gets when he's fighting? And the contrast to how relaxed he is normally? And his eyes are so beautiful!" Apollo says, practically begging Annabeth to agree.
"No, yes, Lord Apollo–"
"You can drop the lord, you know, especially if we're going to be sharing Percy," Apollo commented idly, his tone incongruous with his tapping fingers.
"Apollo, didn't Percy already turn you down, at that party?" She asked, hoping that'd be enough to dissuade him.
"No, he said he was taken, so clearly, as long as you're fine with it, it'll be good, right? And you are fine with it, aren't you?" There was a pressing tone in Apollo's voice, now, almost a hint of menace. She's sure that if she asked, he'd deny it, and maybe he doesn't even mean to do it. But at this moment she's reminded of just how big the power gap between a god and a mortal is. And she's fairly sure Percy just wasn't interested, but she's not sure how to communicate that. Unless...
"You were just fooling around with that other guy, right?" she started out.
"Horkos, yes, quite the set of pipes on him. And he can work–"
"Sure, yes. But Percy would expect monogamy, or something close to it," she pointed out, not pointing out that Percy was clearly not attracted to him, given that she wasn't attractive to him.
"Don't be ridiculous, Annabeth, I'm a god! I can't be tied down as easily as that."
"Then Percy won't be interested. You all know his fatal flaw is loyalty. How are you even hoping to get him interested if you're not willing to be loyal to him?"
"I definitely could," Apollo responded, sounding slightly petulant. "But I'm Apollo, the handsomest god of them all." At the same time, he sounded vaguely considering.
"Isn't that– uh, yeah." She quickly cut herself off. She was definitely not going to make the mistake of trying to adjucate who the handsomest god of them all was. "And, uh, even beyond that, I'm pretty sure he's straight," she continued, jumping to the first topic that'd hopefully get them onto mildly safer ground.
"I'm sure– well, no. Well, anyways, most men aren't, in my experience," he noted. Then, he continued. "And if he really is, I'm willing to take a more feminine form," he shrugged. "This might be my preferred one, but I'm sure I can find one he'd prefer."
"That doesn't change his preference for exclusivity, though," Annabeth pointed out. She was starting to worry that she might have to use a wish. Percy would say no, she was sure. But she didn't exactly want to risk Apollo getting offended. Even if they were to open up their relationship, she'd pick just about anyone over Apollo. At least Rachel, for example, they both enjoyed the company of and liked. Not that they would!
But. Well. Maybe if her oath wasn't in the way, maybe they'd give it a try, now that Annabeth had apparently been changed to not be as jealous. On one level, it was kind of terrifying, obviously. But what was she going to do? Waste a wish on getting it back, if Inara would even grant that? Try and act like she still had it? She didn't need to jump into things, sure, but it was gone now. It'd be something Percy and she would have to talk over.
She looked up again, but Apollo still seemed deep in thought. She waited for a minute, then two. "Y'know, I'm trying to decide. Your boyfriend is really hot, and I'd love to be the Olympian to bag him. But that's a lot of hot chicks and guys I'd be giving up if I went exclusive, plus my preferred form? I'm just not sure if it's worth it?"
"I'm sure there's a lot of people who'd miss you from their beds if you tried to exclusively date Percy," Annabeth pointed out. She's lucky that he's at least accepting her framework of having to be exclusive with Percy.
Apollo frowns. "I'm not sure how many, actually. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all, being the hottest guy around, but... I've seen you guys together, sometimes, from the sun chariot. You guys are all cute and sappy together, and he really cares for you. I feel like it'd be different, you know? It's been a while since anyone really cared for me like that. Not since Hyacinthus."
She decided to take a different tack. "Honestly, I don't know how much he wants to do with gods in general, Apollo. Maybe you should focus your pursuits on someone more likely to be interested?" This was blunt, but what else was she going to do? They'd probably have to work a way to get today's wish to cover this problem, as well.
"Maybe," Apollo said. "But maybe not. Listen, could we postpone the temple stuff to another day? I want to think about this, and you're making it really hard."
She was making it hard? She repeated the thought to herself and mentally shook her head. But the sooner she got back, the sooner she could avert this disaster in the making.
"Right, sure. Some other day, after you've figured out whether you want to pursue this or not. See you then, I suppose?" she ends questioningly, and with a wave of Apollo's hand, she's suddenly at the back of the Big House once more.
"Fuck," she mutters to herself. "Fuck." Then, she sets out to find Percy.
What wish do they make to deal with this situation?

Inara The Ifrit
An evil genie with a taste for tormenting her users
Everyone's pretty familiar with genies or jinn - you rub the lamp, you get three wishes. Ifrits are a little different. They both live in lamps and grant wishes but Ifrit specifically take delight in causing harm - either by twisting the owner's wishes around Monkey's Paw style or by forcing someone good and pure to make wishes that are purely sinful in nature. If someone summons an Ifrit, they're stuck with them until they've made 7 evil wishes, one for every deadly sin. They know everything that their owner knows, including all their secrets and hidden desires. What's worse, is that if some kind soul refuses to make a wish, the Ifrit can inflict penalties on the user once every evening until they do so - usually in the form of making a secret, sinful desire that person has kept hidden come true or just whatever the Ifrit thinks would be funny. Inara in particular is a Ifrit of lust, sex and vice - these are the things she enjoys the most and is very good at but she's not particular. While she won't deliberately kill someone - there's no fun in ending someone's suffering! - she'll do whatever her owner wishes for, so long as it hurts or corrupts someone. If some poor soul who is pure of heart summons her by accident, they're in for a dark, lusty ride, as she'll inflict her urge for sexual corruption on her owner until they're warped beyond recognition or give in and make those 7 wishes. And, unlike the number of evil wishes she can grant, the number of penalties she can inflict are unlimited until her "owner" is fully corrupted or finally gives in and makes the wishes. Of course, if their new owner is already sinful, they'll happily just alter reality to fit their evil whims. Which is why it is terribly troubling and unfortunate that Inara's lamp is found and activated by . . .
