Jameson: Excuse me, Claire, have you heard from Steven? I tried calling him several times, and as far as I could tell from my friends, no one's seen him since last night.

Claire was scared; part of her had hoped no one had started looking for Steven, but instead they'd already gotten to her.

Claire: Um, do we know each other?

Jamson looked confused.

Jamson: We saw each other this morning, remember when you... oh, it's about the rejection! I'm sorry, but it's important, Steve could be in danger.

Claire, you know, she met the other her. Ironic, considering it was the same Steven she was looking for... but what about the rejection? What's the other her done?

Claire: Steve hasn't been in touch since, I have no idea where he is.

Jamson: Okay, but you're his roommate, didn't you notice anything? Did he ever come back?

Claire: ...no? Not that I was there the whole time, I mean, how would I know if he'd been there or not?

Claire wasn't a good liar; she was almost confirming that she knew Steve hadn't returned, which implied she knew where he was.

Claire: Do you think something happened to him?

Jameson: That's what I fear, I have ****, I'll call the police.

A wave of panic began to form inside Claire; she had to stop Jameson somehow, no matter what!

I kiss him.

Jameson: What are you doing! I told you this morning I'm not interested!

Claire: I... no, sorry, and that you seemed so cool, like... one of those detectives on TV who solve mysteries.

Jameson: What? Well, thanks, honestly, no one's ever told me that. Anyway, I'm engaged and not interested.

Claire: Anyway, Steven doesn't seem like someone who could get into trouble, maybe you should try to keep looking for him without...

Jameson: I'm not here to be the hero of your fantasies, Claire. My friend is missing, so I have to call the police. He could be in danger.

Claire: ...maybe you're right, I'm sorry if I wasted your time.

Jameson: No, don't worry, but contact me if you find anything, okay?

Claire nodded, but inside she was scared to ****. What would happen if someone who had just reported a missing person disappeared? Social media would explode, the police would start moving. Her time was running out, and she still didn't know anything about how to fight the virus!

Jameson walked away, returning to his group of athletic friends.

Claire had to go back. If the other one, she and Marrion, had verified that they were immune to each other, they could look for the factors in the virus that create immunity and take a step closer to finding a cure.

Claire quickly walks to her room, ****, her hopes about to be dashed.
