Chapter 67 by sexyslave sexyslave

How does she respond?

She has some reservations!

"Um... I really don't know about it... Devils are not supposed to be a part of God's divine plan," Asia replied apologetically. "At least, that's what I was brought up to believe. They, and Fallen Angels, I was told, are sinful by their very nature..."

"...I should probably be offended by that, but I only recently became a Devil, so I don't fully identify as one yet, I guess," Issei replied. "It honestly doesn't feel too different from being a human... Other than being stronger and the shit about staying away from churches. Do you have any actual experience with Devils?"

Asia nodded. "Once..." She then explained about how she had been abandoned by her parents, discovered her healing powers when she was eight, and taken in by the church, and declared a saint. Unfortunately, this led to her being isolated. "One day, I came across a Devil, wounded by a pursuing Exorcist. I... Saved him. And the Exorcist came upon us, and the Devil killed him and fled."

"...I imagine that caused problems," Issei said mildly, and she nodded.

"I was then labeled a witch for saving a Devil, and cast out by the Church," Asia summed up, taking another bite. "I was then taken in by the Fallen Angels..."

"That explains why you were running with that crowd to begin with," Issei sighed. "...do you ever regret showing compassion to a Devil?"

"...I don't know..." Asia replied. "I knew I shouldn't, but all I saw before me was a dying person in front of me who needed healing... And then he took my gesture and used it to kill an Exorcist. What is that, if not evil? And should I extend kindness to evil? I just don't know..."

"I don't know the full story, but I don't think the Devil did anything wrong," Issei denied, making Asia blink at him. "That Exorcist was trying to kill him, right? I don't know the reasons behind the altercation, but the Devil was probably just defending himself. Whether there was also hatred motivating him, or it was all fear for his life, I couldn't tell you, but until we know more, we shouldn't assume the worst in someone, should we?"

Asia stared at Issei, processing his perspective. It... Made sense, and she didn't know how she didn't look at things that way before. "...another question. What, to you, is a "sin?"" Issei then asked.

How does Asia answer that?
