She embraces her confidence

Ruby steeled herself with a deep breath.

"Yang, I appreciate the concern, and I realize this is a bit out there, but I'm a grown woman. I can make my own decisions, and I'm gonna stay here. I'm not showing anything explicit, and half the girls here are barely covered anyway. I'm gonna go hang with Weiss and Blake, so I'll see you around." With that, Ruby turned on her heel, and marched off, Yang's protests swallowed by the music. As expected, Weiss and Blake's discussion ended as she was a few feet away from them, and they turned together as they saw her approach.

Weiss's jaw dropped, and her face flushed crimson as she took in Ruby's costume. Blake's reaction was bit different, in that a hungry glint appeared in her eyes, and a light blush appeared on her cheeks. Self consciously, Ruby crossed her hands in front of her skirt, subtly trying to hold it a bit lower.

"Hey, g-guys. Great party, right? I love your costume, Weiss! Is it a... ballerina costume? And is that supposed to be Zwei, Blake? I knew you secretly liked him," Ruby said, trying to break the awkwardness. Regardless, it was several loud heartbeats before Blake broke the silence.

"Yeah-yeah, it's supposed to be Zwei. I had a short amount of time to prep, so it's a bit basic, I'm afraid. I gotta ask, what are you supposed to be, Ruby?"

Ruby's brain was quick with the response.

"The Rose Fairy Queen! It's an old tale my mom would tell me as kid, and Yang was nice enough to get it made for me," Ruby quickly said, feeling some pride in the back of her head in having put some of the blame on Yang. "Can I touch your tail? It looks so fluffy..."

"NO!" Blake yelped, backing up. "I mean, no, please don't. It's... glued pretty hard, but I don't want to take any chances, ya know?" Her cheeks were a darker shade of red though, now. Before Ruby could ask any further, Weiss finally spoke up.

"You dolt, that is simply too lewd!" she said a bit louder than Ruby would have liked. "But, it does look really good," Weiss added, with a sly wink. Ruby felt some of the tension drain out of her, and even some genuine relaxation flow in.
