Glimmer leans forward. “I don’t know.”

Two Trick shakes her head and groans. “Christ. What are you? A little kid? You had all night to think about it. Did you really think Paul was going to find something else out?”

“I don’t know,” Glimmer repeats.

Two Trick curses again. “Look at me when you talk, at least. Do you want in or not? I’m not sticking around for nothing. Just know this is your last chance.”

Glimmer jolts up, their eyes meeting as she shouts. “I’ll do it!”

“Do what?”

“I’ll do whatever Sevens tells me,” Glimmer whispers, looking down again. The amount of tears that swell in her eyes makes her regret her words, but she feels it’s too late to take them back.”

“Good,” Two Trick says. “Now this wasn’t a complete waste of time…”

Glimmer stands up. “As if you understand any of this!”

Two Trick guffaws gleefully, seeing the whore before her show genuine spite. “Well, well! Is this why Sevens liked you so much? Look at you!”

Glimmer’s cheeks burn with embarrassment. Her augmentations make her little more than a pretty doll, while Two Trick’s could probably allow her to rip someone in half. “How can I even trust you? What makes you think I’ll trust you and Sevens?”

The girl’s eyes flick with serious intent. It becomes engrossed with evil electricity. “Contractors kill, doll. I’m here to take your order and show our reliability.”

The words are rough and wicked. The shift in tone makes Glimmer’s skin ride with discomfort and gooseflesh. “What do you mean?”

“Who do you hate the most from your line of work?” Two Trick grins. “I’ll end them. I’ll even bring back their head for you on a platter to show that we’ll get it done as long as you keep your end of the deal.”

“That’s gross!” Glimmer gasps and crosses her arms. Names echo in her skull as faces flash behind her eyes. “I’m not–”

“Anyone’s on the list,” Two Trick says lowly. “Free of charge. An act of good faith. So, tell me… who do you hate?”
