"The Serpent and his men have made camp in the ravine. No fires have been lit, so they must be trying to hide their presence. I get the feeling they will attack first thing in the morning."

Broden nodded his agreement. Knowing that they could be attacked the next morning, he thought about the layout of the ravine and the location of the enemy base. With the archers the Ethimilee had sent along, he could attack from the top of the ravine, and have soldiers moving down through the ravine with large shields and spears to push the enemy back. Even if they didn't slay the Serpent, the stronghold could be held. Or they could wait until he attacked, but they still didn't know how he planned to take such a well defended fortress with just a brigade. Broden thought more, trying to decide if he should attack first or wait for his enemy to move.
