Chapter 313 by robyna robyna

Does she get mad?

She does

"Okay, Matt," Principal Conner said, "I am not interested in your feeble attempts to justify sinful behavior. What you're doing is immoral and evil. I hesitate to think what it's doing to the morals of our young men and young women. But I am not prepared to deal with the lawyers you've somehow unleashed on the school. So..." she pulled out a sheet of paper from her briefcase and handed it to him, "if you will simply sign this, I'm prepared to allow you to return to your classes."

"What, exactly, are you asking me to sign."

"It's a simple statement that you don't hold the school responsible for what happened, that you'll conduct yourself appropriately in the future, and that you acknowledge the school's important role in promoting the moral fabric of society."

Matt held the paper between two fingers. "That sounds very reasonable, Principal Conner."

She exhaled a relieved breath. "I'm glad you're willing to move forward."

"Assuming my attorney approves it, I'll be happy to sign."

"Attorney." She gave him a fake smile. "Matt, there's no reason to bring lawyers into what's simply a matter best settled between student and faculty."

"So you didn't have the school lawyers prepare this document?"

"Uh, well... of course they had to approve it. But that's different."

"I guess I don't see the difference. It won't take long, though. I can snap an image and forward it to my lawyer right now. Assuming it's all good, I can sign it before classes start."

"Matt, if you're going to be unreasonable."

"Unreasonable? I spent twenty-four hours in prison. My mother, sister and friends were terrorized. I've had to take on a business partner I really would have preferred not to deal with. All because you, or someone else associated with the school unjustly called the cops on me. I'd say it is completely unreasonable to ask me to sign a document without getting legal advice after that."

"Give it back to me, then."

"I'm sure you have your own copy."

"In that case, your suspension remains in effect. I'm afraid this won't look good on your future college applications."

"I'll relay that message to my lawyer as well. I know he'll be interested in seeing the justification for the suspension."

"For one thing, your rudeness to me."

"Please write it all down and give me a copy. Oh, and I think I've been quite polite through this process. I think my recording will bear that out."

Suspended again. What should he do?
