"No, that's fine!" Megan blurted out a little sharper than she has intended. "I can find my own way."
Not wanting to give Frank a chance to argue she quickly made her way through the store towards the cash register.
She was half way there when realisation dawned on her. Her money was in her jeans, and Louise still had those.
Thinking of her clothing made her suddenly freeze in place. Louise had her jeans, but she'd left her bra and T-shirt in the changing room in her hurry to get away from Frank.
Slowly, Megan cast her eyes down her body. The only item of clothing she wore that actually belonged to her was her socks, and without her money she had no way to pay for the dress.
Could she risk running back to the bookshop? She'd never considered shop lifting before, but she needed a way to get out of this situation and her brain seemed to be misfiring all over the place.
Of course, it wasn't stealing all the while she didn't leave the store. She had a dress now, all she needed to do was find Louise, get her money and she'd be fine.
