Chapter 64 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

What happens next?

She's still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah

The woman who used to be Marcie Ross watched in amazement as Darla fired shot after shot at the naked future Rose Tyler. Yet future Rose just stood there as if Darla was simply blowing kisses in her direction.

Then Darla threw aside the gun she had taken from Marcie, muttered something about blanks and then reached under her own skirt in order to pull out her own gun. Yet this gun was no more successful than the other one.

"Why" *gun shot* "don't" *gun shot* "you" *gun shot* "just" *gun shot* "die?" asked Darla as she fired the gun at future Rose Tyler.

And yet despite all that, future Rose still stood upright without a scratch on her. She seemed to be as surprised about this as everyone else in the church.

Then a thought occurred to her.

"Amy," said future Rose. "This is Amy's doing. Amy likes to cast spells on people when their backs are turned. And she said she had a spell that makes people bulletproof."

Marcie could not help thinking, who's Amy?

Then she realized that this would be the perfect time to stake Darla for once Darla stopped being distracted by future Rose, she would be a lot harder to kill. And it was obvious to Marcie that there would be no way she and future Rose would be able to leave this church while Darla was still alive. Darla would kill them first.

But as Marcie reached beneath her skirt for the stake she had in her garter, she heard Darla say, "You're lying, Rose. Amy could not possibly have put such a spell on you. The two-hearted witch would have mentioned it."

Wait a minute, thought Marcie. Two-hearted witch? Did that mean the same person that her employer had been talking about?

Then Darla threw down her gun and said, "Well, if I can't kill you with a gun, I guess I'm going to have to kill you the old-fashioned way."

Then Darla's face started to change into the classic vamp-face expression of the average vampire -- only to explode into dust immediately after Marcie rammed her stake right into the center of her back.

Then Marcie glanced at future Rose and said, "Sorry, Rose. I had to do it. She would have killed us all if I hadn't."

"It's okay," said future Rose, strangely quiet. "I just never realized till now what an evil person Grandmother had been. How could my Mistress let something like that into our TARDIS?"

"Well, you see, it's complicated," said Marcie. "The two of them --"

"I don't believe it!" cried Drusilla. "The two of you survived an attack from that evil woman. And you both were willing to risk your lives to protect me and my family. You two must surely be angels from heaven."

"I wouldn't say that," said Marcie.

Future Rose just smiled.

Then Marcie turned and saw a large brooding male emerge from the shadows by the right side of the church.

"Funny thing about angels," said the man. "It's usually not a good idea to mention them too much because you never know who might be listening."

It was obviously Angelus, thought Marcie, but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part came when a second figure emerged from the shadows. This figure was an oddly dressed woman with dark auburn hair and a purple dress. In her hand she carried an umbrella.

She took one look at Marcie and smiled.

"Hello," said the newcomer. "I see you three have met my most recent business partner Angelus, significant other of the apparently recently departed Darla. You three must be Marcie, Rose and of course, the younger self of my current adversary. Oh, very clever. But where are my manners? I really should introduce myself. My name is Missy but some of you may better know me by another name -- the Two-Hearted Witch."
