What did her mother want?
She's sending someone over.
After a couple more days of bed rest, you're able to hobble to your kitchen where, to your surprise, Selas has prepared some normal human food like porridge, soft-boiled eggs, coffee and juice. You couldn't be more grateful. Ever since the time you seeded her, she's been doting on you every waking moment, but you have heard her talking to someone in the middle of the night. Dropping into your seat, you let out a pained sigh that quickly goes away when your feet are picked up from under you and placed onto an empty chair. "There we go. Now, say 'Ahh...'," Selas says, spooning out some porridge and holding it to your mouth.
Taking it away from her, you begin to feed yourself, what pride you have left not letting you be coddled that much, now that you're mobile at the very least. Selas just rolls her eyes and shakes her head at you. "So who have you been talking to?" you ask, scarfing down the porridge.
"Just the girls... and my mother," she adds very quietly. But you still caught it. A wistful sigh escapes you, you feel your heart start to quicken and a pink haze descends over your vision. Selas snaps her fingers at you and the haze is gone. Blinking your vision clear, you see an annoyed pout on Selas' face. She sighs. "My mo-... She heard about our contract and she's making arrangements to have Nanny Mara come here, to... see that I will be attended to."
You raise an eyebrow at her. "She's sending your grandmother here?"
Selas gives you a confused look for a second before laughing. "No, not that kind of Nanny, you ninny!" she chuckles, wiping a tear from her eye. "My caretaker! The one who raised me since I was a child! Hahahaha!" Your face is blank while she laughs heartily before deflating onto the table and groaning in defeat. "This is gonna suck..."
"How so?"
"Because when she gets here, it's going to be all 'Miss Selas, you can't drink that. Urine's not good for the baby'." She says in a mocking tone, while using her hand to mime speaking. "'Miss Selas, stop shape-shifting. The baby's going to develop strangely. Miss Selas, it's not your turn on the tentacle beast. Miss Selas, it's bleh bleh bleh beh bleh bleh bleh...'" She sighs greatly again before literally melting off her seat.
"Yes. It sounds horrible to have someone tell you what you have to do." You say flatly to the femininely shaped purple puddle on your floor. A bubble floats up from it and pops with a loud raspberry sound. You shake your head at it and change topics slightly. "So those three... ladies that showed up before, in the portals? Your friends? Are they the ones I'm supposed to... you know?"
